POSITION: College and Career Specialist
DEPT: EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Educational Services
Job Goal:
Performs skilled/professional consultation, planning and implementation functions under limited supervision to provide resources, programs, information, and advisement that will enhance awareness for career and job opportunities for students. In addition, this position will assist in the operations of the Career Tech local programs at the secondary levels, as well as some other elective course offerings. This position will provide assistance to various sites in regard to program requirements and opportunities, career exploration, and career portfolios. This individual will be seek to form relationships with community partners to help create opportunities for students to access internships. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and good judgment when dealing with the complexity of the jobs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Length of Contract: Two hundred and forty (240) contract days.
Evaluation: the Executive Director of Educational Services in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies and state law will evaluate performance of this job.
Supervisory Responsibilities: NA
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Master's degree with classroom experience; experience in Career and Technology Education preferred.
Certificates, registrations: Valid Oklahoma Teaching certificate, administrator's certification, and completion of the State Dept. of Education Supervisory training.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Communication Skills (oral, written, or business: Basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple to more complex instructions and respond to inquiries. Includes filling out forms. Knowledge of grammatical structure, vocabulary for preparing correspondence from rough draft to proofing of completed material. Communicates in clear, grammatically correct English. Is computer literate.
Contact with Others: An incumbent will be in contact with leaders of industry, Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Oklahoma City Community College, Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, The Edmond Chamber of Commerce, students, teachers, counselors and principals in an effort to work together to assure career and technology and career information is provided, to increase the understanding of the components of Career and Technology Education, and to develop close working relationships with various entities within this community to enhance the job opportunities for our students.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.
Reasonable Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
