Western Texas College | 6200 College Avenue | Snyder, Texas 79549 | 325- 573-8511 | wtc.edu Revised 1/15/2026 Title: College Groundskeeper Reports to: College Grounds Superintendent Terms: Full Time, 12 Months Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 hourly Position Summary The College Groundskeeper is responsible for the routine maintenance, care, and appearance of the College's grounds, golf course areas, athletic fields, landscaped spaces, and other designated exterior facilities. This position performs assigned groundskee ping duties to ensure campus outdoor areas remain safe, attractive, functional, and operationally ready to support instructional activities, athletic competition, community events, and daily institutional operations. Essential Functions Grounds and Landscape Maintenance • Performs mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, raking, pruning, planting, watering, and general landscape upkeep for campus grounds, golf course areas, athletic fields, and exterior facilities. • Assists with fertilization, weed control, seeding, turf repair, mulching, and seasonal grounds improvement projects. • Maintains flower beds, shrubs, trees, sidewalks, parking areas, courtyards, and other outdoor gathering spaces in a clean and attractive condition. • Removes litter, debris, leaves, and other materials from assigned grounds areas. • Assists with irrigation checks and reports watering, drainage, or turf concerns to supervisors. Athletic Field, Golf Course, and Exterior Facility Support • Assists with preparation and cleanup of athletic fields, golf course areas, and outdoor facilities for instructional use, practices, competitions, tournaments, and special events. • Supports setup, breakdown, and restoration of designated exterior spaces for campus and community activities. • Maintains exterior signage areas, walkways, spectator spaces, and event support locations as assigned. Equipment and Tool Operation Western Texas College | 6200 College Avenue | Snyder, Texas 79549 | 325- 573-8511 | wtc.edu Revised 1/15/2026 • Operates commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles, hand tools, and other grounds maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner. • Performs basic daily equipment checks, fueling, cleaning, and reporting of maintenance or repair needs. • Properly stores grounds equipment, tools, fertilizers, and supplies after use. • Assists with loading, unloading, and transporting grounds materials and equipment as assigned. Safety and Grounds Readiness • Performs all grounds maintenance duties in accordance with College safety standards and departmental procedures. • Uses chemicals, fertilizers, and maintenance materials in compliance with training and established safety guidelines. • Identifies and reports hazards, damaged grounds areas, irrigation issues, or equipment concerns. • Helps ensure assigned outdoor facilities remain safe, functional, and visually presentable at all times. Additional Responsibilities Serves on institutional committees as assigned. Assists with emergency weather response, storm cleanup, and urgent exterior facility needs. Maintains professional knowledge of groundskeeping practices and equipment use. Adheres to institutional, state, and federal policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED. • Experience operating commercial mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, and general grounds equipment. • Basic knowledge of mowing, irrigation support, weed control, fertilization, and exterior facility care. • Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred. • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and safely use grounds materials and equipment. • Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and work evenings or weekends as required.
