The College of Arts and Sciences is looking for a Student Assistant to support Academic Coordinators and departments. We are seeking a motivated individual who can self-start, follow through on assigned tasks, andhas a high degree of comfort interacting with others. The Office Assistant is expected to identify, initiate, and complete a variety of tasks and projects in a role that primarily serves CAS Academic Coordinators and faculty.

Shifts for this position are 3 hours long, Monday-Friday, and have a degree of flexibilty.

Core Duties

  • Assist Academic Coordinators & faculty with a variety of clerical tasks.

  • Marketing: Experience with Canva preferred. Assistant will create and edit QR codes, promotional materials for events, update departmental websites as needed.

  • Event coordination: Coordinate system to track attendance and gather weekly food orders from faculty and student participants, receive food order each Friday and ensure all needed supplies are available for weekly Brain Food events.

  • Assist with general maintenance and organization of department spaces.

  • Academic department support: Support Natural Sciences, Mathematics, & Pre-Health/Health Professions departments, including:

  • Run materials through autoclave

  • Wash and clean supplies and lab spaces

  • Collect lab coats for laundering and hang up

  • Cleaning lab spaces as needed

  • Stocking consumables

  • Assessing and organizing inventory

  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
  • Some events management experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • High-level organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks.
  • Collaborative approach to work.
  • Proactive communicator.
  • Basic computer skills (Some familiarity with: Microsoft Office Adobe Acrobat, Canva, Google, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with UP technology and systems
  • Prior clerical work.
  • College of Arts and Sciences majors preferred

Physical Requirements

  • May work with hazardous materials, including lab materials
