Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Lab Monitors proctor undergraduate science students conducting research after hours (evenings and weekends).

Daily duties and supervision will be provided by the Department of Biology with input from faculty responsible for undergraduate research in labs being monitored. General oversight will be provided by the Department of Biology.

Monitor safety of undergraduate science students conducting research.

Hourly walk-through of research spaces.

Submit nightly reports detailing lab usage and safety adherence.

Communicate with Security, research faculty, and Biology Department Chair/Research Coordinator in the event of an emergency.

Complete work assignments safely using necessary personal protective equipment and other safety devices.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required QualificationsApplicants must be able to complete and perform essential job functions and responsibilities as specified.

Lab Monitors will primarily work in research laboratories without supervision. Adherence to laboratory safety and health policies is required, including the use of all necessary personal protective equipment and other safety devices.

Required EducationEither currently enrolled as a graduate student at Belmont with a B.A. or B.S. with experience in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science or be enrolled in as an undergraduate in a science program in the College of Science and Mathematics. Required ExperienceN/A
