SEO Scholars is a free, eight-year, academic program that transforms public high school students in New York City, San Francisco, North Carolina, and Miami into college graduates. 100% of Scholars are accepted into four-year colleges, 85% graduate with a Bachelor's degree, and 80% are first‑generation college graduates.POSITION OVERVIEW College Persistence Advisors (CPAs) adhere to the College Scholars advising model, working directly in support of College Scholars' success in college. CPAs provide personal, academic, and career support, manage a cohort of ~70 Scholars, and lead or support the Scholars Program with workshops and programming. Administrative tasks include documenting advising sessions, tracking Scholar submissions, and analyzing engagement data.RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and engage in one‑on‑one a cohort of ~70 Scholars remotely and in person, ensuring equitable support.Advise Scholars on college preparedness, academic support, personal and career development.Provide case management services for Scholars needing basic needs support.Apply the College Scholars Advising model with intentional skills and tools.Reinforce linkages between Scholars' instructional program and desired career.Assess Scholar well‑being and safety as needed.Build rapport via consistent, non‑judgmental communication.Maintain student confidentiality.Advocate for students with universities and other stakeholders.Maintain, collect, and report student data for degree audits, transcripts, and financial aid tracking.Document case notes promptly in Salesforce database.Use Salesforce systems to deliver and report advising services.Participate in professional development, training, and coaching.Facilitate and co‑facilitate programming workshops for student success.Attend occasional evening and weekend work as required.Support program initiatives that contribute to Scholar success, especially in the second year.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree required (Social Work, Counseling, School Counseling, School Psychology, or related field).2–3 years graduate school field placement or work experience in education or related field.Prior experience working with college students.Understanding of the unique needs of first‑generation and low‑income students.COMPETENCIES & SKILLS Passion for closing opportunity gaps and driving student achievement.Highly detail‑oriented, organized, able to meet competing deadlines.Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, interpersonal.Self‑starter, able to work independently and collaboratively.Ability to delegate tasks.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive.Data‑driven experience with database/CMS (e.g., Salesforce).Spanish speaking strongly preferred.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS SEO offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including low‑cost health, vision, and dental options; a generous holiday schedule and PTO; disability coverage; fully paid time off for new parents; and employer contributions to health reimbursement and retirement accounts.
