Western Texas College | 6200 College Avenue | Snyder, Texas 79549 | 325- 573-8511 | wtc.edu Revised 1/15/2026 Title: College Safety and Security Director Reports to: Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Terms: Full Time, 12 Months Salary: $53,000- $$57,000 , Determined by Credentials and Experience Position Summary The College Safety and Security Director provides leadership and operational oversight for a comprehensive campus safety and security program designed to promote a safe and secure learning and working environment. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving safety operations, emergency preparedness, incident response, and regulatory compliance efforts across all college properties. The College Safety and Security Director supervises campus security personnel and coordinates safety operations to ensure effective 24- hour, seven -day-a-week coverage. This position collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and external agencies to promote a culture of safety, preparedness, and prevention aligned with the mission and operational priorities of the College. Essential Functions Campus Safety Operations • Develops, implements, assesses, and continuously improves a comprehensive campus safety and security program. • Provides supervision and leadership for campus security personnel including scheduling, training, evaluation, and operational oversight. • Develops staffing plans to ensure appropriate 24- hour campus safety coverage. • Coordinates daily patrol operations including buildings, grounds, parking areas, and college facilities. • Ensures campus facilities are properly secured through monitoring of doors, lighting, and access control practices. • Coordinates security support for campus events and special activities. • Oversees ID processing and parking permit procedures. • Maintains security equipment and systems and coordinates repairs as needed. • Develops and maintains a security operations manual and standard operating procedures. • Maintains a security incident tracking system to document incidents, reports, warnings, and citations. Emergency Preparedness and Incident Management • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of campus emergency response procedures under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. • Supports the institutional response to emergencies including medical incidents, criminal activity, severe weather, fire, and infrastructure disruptions. • Provides timely incident information and operational updates to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. • Serves as the operational safety coordinator during emergency situations and implements response actions as directed. • Assists with emergency preparedness training and campus safety awareness initiatives. • Identifies potential safety risks and makes recommendations to strengthen prevention and response practices. Compliance and Safety Reporting • Ensures institutional compliance with federal, state, and local safety reporting requirements including Clery Act reporting. • Maintains required safety and security reporting systems and documentation. • Ensures accurate documentation and reporting of campus incidents. • Maintains working knowledge of FERPA and confidentiality requirements. Training and Campus Education • Develops and delivers safety training for college employees and students. • Coordinates onboarding and training for new security personnel. • Provides ongoing professional development and procedural training for security staff. • Promotes campus awareness related to safety procedures and prevention practices. External Partnerships and Coordination • Maintains collaborative relationships with local police, sheriff departments, and emergency services. Additional Responsibilities Serves on committees as assigned. Maintains professional development in campus safety, emergency management, and regulatory compliance. Maintains required certifications and training. Adheres to institutional policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. • Experience in campus safety, law enforcement, emergency management, safety compliance, or related field. • Strong organizational and leadership skills. • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive situations with discretion. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to walk patrol areas and perform routine physical security duties.
