PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May be required to work on equipment installed or requiring installation or removal in various positions/locations including overhead (requiring work on ladders), floor mounted (requiring bending or prolonged kneeling) or tight spaces. HOURS: To be scheduled by the department as needed, but not to exceed 30 hours per week. May be scheduled to work at offsite locations not limited to MTEC, M building or R,S,T buildings as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, must be able to identify hand tools used in the assigned area. Must have basic computer knowledge. Must have good customer service skills. May be required to work on equipment installed or requiring installation or removal in various positions/locations including overhead (requiring work on ladders), floor mounted (requiring bending or prolonged kneeling) or tight spaces.

Supervision

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Manager Facilities & Operations Engineering and Advanced Technology. May take direction from Engineering and Advanced Technology Associate Deans or full-time faculty. SUPERVISION GIVEN: None.

Job Function

Provide support to the EAT programs and tool crib areas as a member of the Work-Study program.

Now hiring for the Fall 2026 semester.

All applicants MUST meet the following criteria or will be marked disqualified:

• a current student at Macomb Community College taking AT LEAST 6 credit hours.
• currently have a work-study award given by Financial Aid - If you have not received an award or are not sure, fill out and submit this form and contact finaid@macomb.edu with questions.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor facility operations for the Manager of Facilities & Operations, in her/his absence, to ensure that the facility is operated in a manner that is consistent with the policies and procedures adopted by the College for the overall operation.
• Enforces health, safety and fire regulations within the facility.
• May be required to open/close the facility.
• Check in and check out tools and equipment in EAT labs.
• Provide proper security for the facility, tools, and equipment.
• Inform supervisor and/or instructor of students not following safety procedures.
• Answer telephone, transfer calls and/or take messages.
• Run errands on campus.
• Assist faculty, staff, and students within the EAT facility(s).
• Maintain all department records electronically, including inventory of lab supplies, and initiate replacement supply orders.
• Perform daily routine shop and equipment cleaning and rubbish removal.
• Perform routine shop and equipment cleaning.
• Monitor equipment condition and notify supervisor of required repairs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Related work experience or demonstrated ability to perform duties of the position. Some education required such as relevant course work and/or formal training. Use of computers and advanced technical support may be required.
