Lead a high-performing collision repair operation

You set the tone for the day, aligning technicians, estimators, and front office staff to deliver safe, ethical, and profitable repairs—always by the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You’ve run a collision shop before and thrive on turning complex schedules into smooth, predictable outcomes.

What your day looks like

Morning begins with the production cadence. You ensure the Production Manager holds a punctual kickoff meeting to review the work plan, parts status, and shop needs so every technician knows the path to delivery. Later, you host an office huddle—daily or weekly as appropriate—with the management team to assess throughput, customer updates, and any roadblocks. Twice a month, immediately after payroll, you lead a Best Practices session to set goals, solve problems, and dig into a prepared agenda that drives continuous improvement.

Customer and financial stewardship

  • Deductibles: During the estimate, clearly explain deductible responsibility, verify whether it applies and who owes it, and ensure no vehicle is released until the deductible is paid.
  • Initial payment: Collect the customer’s initial payment before the vehicle is dropped off. No parts will be ordered, and no repairs or disassembly will begin until that payment is received.
  • Delivery: Personally ensure every completed vehicle is hand-delivered with warranty information, a final invoice, and a walk-through of the repairs performed.

Production control and quality

  • Parts & RO discipline: After 100% tear-down, confirm that all parts and materials are billed to the correct repair order—fasteners, bonding agents, lighting, and fluids—maximizing accuracy and profitability.
  • Quality assurance: Enforce the use of CCC checklists to standardize quality control throughout the repair process.
  • DRP/Fleet alignment: Know and follow insurance DRP and fleet program guidelines, while advocating for safe, ethical procedures and appropriate times.

Tools and environment

You’ll be hands-on in a shop environment around automotive vehicles and collaborate closely with paint operations and spray equipment to keep work flowing safely and efficiently.

What you bring

  • Proven experience managing a collision center or auto body shop.
  • Leadership and people management skills with a track record of supervisory success.
  • Ability to coach and mentor teams to higher performance.
