Job Summary
Description: The Colorguard Instructor will support teachers and students in the discipline of the Marching Arts. Scope of Duties: ? Collaborate with classroom teachers to teach Drill and Choreography. ? Assisting with instruction, assessment, and logistics (concerts, competitions, performance, etc.) as determined by the band director. Job Responsibilities: ? Assists in the continual recruitment of the programs offered ? Provides immediate area supervision and implements drill and choreography ? Provide extra support for students ? Support and assist the classroom teacher in implementing lessons & rehearsal blocks ? Monitor, document, and report on activities as needed ? Assists in show design and selection/ordering of props and other equipment Desired Skills and Experience: ? Ability to teach body movement, choreography, and marching techniques ? Professional or Industry Experience in Music or the Marching Arts (performance, teaching, etc.) ? Background and/or familiarity with ensemble music and/or dance techniques ? Basic knowledge of instrumental function/design/tuning/pedagogy ? Experience working with grade 6-12 students ? Demonstrated ability to work with diverse population,s including youth and adults ? Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills ? Ability to work independently and be flexible
