Colorimetric Quality Technician — Label & Packaging Printing

Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM Monday–Friday (Training on 1st shift)

About the role

Own the integrity of color and print quality from setup through final inspection across flexographic and digital press operations.

What you’ll do

  • Approve flexographic and digital press setups prior to production.
  • Inspect materials during setup, run, and post‑production for accuracy and consistency.
  • Measure and verify color with spectrophotometers and densitometers; manage Delta E, density, and dot gain.
  • Identify and help correct color variation, registration errors, banding, streaking, ghosting, and plate/substrate defects.
  • Document quality results, defects, and corrective actions; maintain accurate logs and reports.
  • Collaborate with press operators, prepress, and production to quickly resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance to customer specifications, GMP standards, and internal SOPs.
  • Support continuous improvement, root‑cause analysis, and equipment calibration.

Must‑haves

  • High school diploma or GED (technical or printing education preferred).
  • 2+ years of quality control experience in flexographic and/or digital printing.
  • Working knowledge of printing processes, substrates, inks, coatings, and finishing.
  • Hands‑on ability with color measurement tools and standard quality metrics.
  • Read and interpret job tickets, artwork, and specifications accurately.
  • Detail‑driven, strong problem solver; communicates clearly and documents thoroughly.
  • Able to work independently in a fast‑paced production environment.

Nice‑to‑haves

  • Label, packaging, or commercial printing background.
  • Knowledge of GMP or FDA‑regulated environments.
  • Experience with variable data printing and digital workflows.
  • Basic understanding of color management systems and profiles.

Tools & methods you’ll use

  • Spectrophotometers and densitometers for color verification.
  • Standards such as Delta E, density, and dot gain.
  • GMP and SOP frameworks to ensure compliance.

Work setting

  • Manufacturing/production floor with exposure to inks, solvents, and machinery.
  • Standing for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
