Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Combo Fitter Welder (Pressure Vessel Welder) to join a growing fabrication team in Sapulpa. This position is responsible for fitting and welding pressure vessels and heavy steel components using multiple welding processes while meeting strict quality standards and code requirements.
The ideal candidate has experience with pressure vessel fabrication, strong fitting skills, and the ability to produce high-quality welds in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous pressure vessel welding and fitting experience preferred
Experience performing MIG (GMAW), Flux Core (FCAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding
Strong blueprint and fabrication drawing interpretation skills
Ability to perform precision fitting and layout work
Knowledge of welding procedures, quality standards, and fabrication practices
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform fitting and welding operations on pressure vessels and fabricated steel components
Weld using MIG, Flux Core, and Stick processes according to approved welding procedures
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions
Fit, align, and assemble components prior to welding
Inspect completed welds for quality, penetration, and workmanship
Maintain productivity while meeting strict quality and safety standards
Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company safety procedures
Follow all welding procedures, fabrication standards, and OSHA safety requirements
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete:
2G MIG & Flux Core Weld Test(Radiograph/X-Ray and Bend Test)
2G Stick Weld Test(Radiograph/X-Ray)
All tests performed on ¾-inch carbon steel plate with a single bevel
Preferred Qualifications
Previous pressure vessel or ASME fabrication experience
Strong structural fitting and layout skills
Experience working in heavy industrial or oil & gas manufacturing environments
Knowledge of pressure vessel fabrication and welding codes
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in multiple welding positions throughout the shift
Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around heavy steel, heat, sparks, welding fumes, and industrial machinery
Work Environment
Heavy industrial manufacturing and pressure vessel fabrication facility
Exposure to welding equipment, overhead cranes, heavy steel materials, heat, sparks, and fabrication machinery
Fast-paced production environment focused on safety, precision, and quality craftsmanship
