Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Combo Welder in Florence, AL to perform welding and fabrication for commercial and industrial mechanical projects using multiple welding processes.
Impact
• Deliver quality welds that ensure structural integrity and system reliability for critical piping and equipment
• Support project schedules by completing welding scopes efficiently and to specifications
• Reduce rework and callbacks through proper welding techniques and quality workmanship
• Contribute to safety excellence by following hot work protocols and maintaining awareness
Responsibilities
• Perform welding operations using SMAW (stick), GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and flux-core processes
• Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys on piping, structural steel, and equipment
• Read and interpret welding symbols, drawings, and specifications
• Prepare weld joints through proper grinding, cleaning, and fit-up procedures
• Perform visual inspections of completed welds and make necessary repairs
• Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper gas supply levels
• Follow all safety protocols including hot work permits, fire watch, and PPE requirements
• Coordinate with pipefitters, plumbers, and other trades on job sequencing
• Complete work in accordance with applicable welding codes and standards
Requirements
Must-Haves
• 3+ years of welding experience in commercial or industrial construction
• Proficiency in multiple welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW)
• Ability to read welding symbols and work from drawings
• Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel piping and structural materials
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Physical ability to work in various positions and environmental conditions
Nice-to-Haves
• Welding certifications for ASME Section IX or AWS D1.1
• Pipe welding experience on 2-inch to 12-inch diameter piping
• OSHA 10 certification
• Experience with X-ray or ultrasonic weld testing procedures
