A growing energy infrastructure developer is seeking a Commercial Analyst to support the valuation and commercialization of large-scale transmission projects across North America. The position sits at the intersection of power markets, transmission planning, resource adequacy, and commercial strategy.
Job Responsibilities:
Build, maintain, and analyze probabilistic resource adequacy models to evaluate reliability metrics, capacity value, ELCC, and resource accreditation across various market frameworks.
Conduct and interpret production cost, congestion, and capacity expansion studies to support project valuation and commercial decision making.
Assemble, validate, and maintain large datasets including load forecasts, generation data, transmission topology, and weather inputs.
Develop commercial analyses related to capacity value, congestion relief, transmission benefits, and energy market opportunities across ERCOT, MISO, SPP, WECC, PJM, and other regional markets.
Support regulatory initiatives through quantitative analysis, technical reports, white papers, and stakeholder presentations.
Partner with commercial, regulatory, development, and finance teams to ensure analytical work supports project development, financing, and commercialization efforts.
Automate analytical workflows and data pipelines using Python and SQL to improve efficiency and scalability.
Translate complex modeling results into clear recommendations and presentations for internal leadership, customers, and external stakeholders.
Job Qualifications:
3-5+ years of experience in energy analytics, wholesale power markets, transmission planning, resource adequacy, market fundamentals, or a related quantitative field.
Experience with probabilistic resource adequacy modeling, loss of load studies, ELCC analysis, or similar reliability-focused frameworks.
Familiarity with production cost and capacity expansion tools such as SERVM, AURORA, PLEXOS, PROMOD, GridView, EnCompass, or similar platforms.
Strong Python and SQL skills with experience analyzing large datasets and automating workflows.
Understanding of power market fundamentals, capacity markets, transmission systems, congestion dynamics, and resource accreditation methodologies.
Experience working within one or more organized power markets including ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, WECC, NYISO, or ISO-NE.
Strong attention to detail with an ability to produce accurate, well-documented, and defensible analyses.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or another quantitative discipline. Advanced degree preferred but not required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
