The Senior Project Architect will lead the design, documentation, and coordination of complex architectural projects across healthcare, industrial, and retail sectors. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Revit, excels in client-facing communication, and brings proven experience delivering high‑quality, code‑compliant projects.
Project Leadership
Serve as the architectural lead on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring design excellence, technical accuracy, and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
Oversee the development of project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients throughout all project phases.
Design & Technical Execution
Develop and refine design concepts for healthcare, industrial, and retail environments with a strong understanding of functional requirements, workflow, and user experience.
Produce and manage detailed Revit models; establish BIM standards and workflows for project teams.
Ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility standards, and industry regulations, including healthcare-specific guidelines (FGI, NFPA, etc.).
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Lead client meetings, presentations, and design reviews.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and permitting authorities in the Columbia region.
Quality Assurance & Mentorship
Review and approve construction documents for accuracy and completeness.
Mentor junior architects and designers, providing guidance on technical development, Revit best practices, and professional growth.
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
Licensed Architect (preferred or in active pursuit).
5–15+ years of architectural experience with a strong portfolio in healthcare, industrial, and retail projects.
Advanced proficiency in Revit; experience establishing BIM standards and workflows.
Strong knowledge of building codes, healthcare regulations, and industrial facility requirements.
Proven ability to lead project teams and manage complex, multi-phase projects.
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
Experience with large-scale healthcare systems, outpatient facilities, or medical office buildings.
Industrial project experience such as manufacturing, logistics, or distribution centers.
Retail prototype development, rollouts, or multi-site programs.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and LEED certification processes.
This position is based in Columbia, South Carolina, with opportunities for hybrid work depending on project needs. Local market knowledge and experience working with regional jurisdictions is a plus.
