Project Executive – Advanced Manufacturing

Location: Dallas, TX

Job Description:

The Project Executive will lead HITT’s Advanced Manufacturing projects throughout the Dallas market. This individual will oversee the complete project lifecycle, from preconstruction, estimating, and procurement through construction, equipment installation, commissioning, startup support, and final closeout.

In addition to providing executive oversight of active projects and project teams, the Project Executive will play a significant role in business development. This includes maintaining relationships with advanced manufacturing clients, leading project pursuits, and identifying new opportunities that support the continued growth of HITT’s Advanced Manufacturing practice in Dallas.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adherence to HITT’s safety standards and ensure all project processes are performed in accordance with company policies and client requirements.
  • Provide executive-level oversight of multiple advanced manufacturing and industrial construction projects.
  • Lead projects from preconstruction and estimating through construction, equipment installation, commissioning, turnover, and final closeout.
  • Lead preconstruction efforts, including constructability reviews, budgeting, scheduling, value engineering, procurement planning, logistics, and subcontractor engagement.
  • Develop, review, and validate detailed estimates, scopes of work, bid packages, and subcontractor leveling.
  • Coordinate base-building construction with process equipment, process utilities, controls, automation, and production-system requirements.
  • Develop project execution strategies that minimize disruption to active manufacturing operations.
  • Plan and oversee shutdowns, phased construction, utility tie-ins, equipment installation, and other critical operational activities.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of estimating estimating practices, market pricing, labor conditions, long-lead equipment, and subcontractor capabilities.
  • Lead RFP responses, project interviews, client presentations, and pursuits in partnership with the Preconstruction and Business Development teams.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding HITT’s presence within the Dallas advanced manufacturing market.
  • Build, maintain, and grow relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, equipment vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients while managing project risk and protecting HITT’s interests.
  • Monitor project performance through updated schedules, cost reports, forecasts, procurement logs, and operational reviews.
  • Maintain accountability for project profitability, financial performance, safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure project-specific quality control, safety, commissioning, and turnover plans are developed, implemented, and followed.
  • Assist project teams with resolving subcontractor scope gaps, design-coordination challenges, equipment conflicts, and contractual issues.
  • Identify, document, and negotiate change orders and schedule extensions when justified.
  • Ensure the timely completion of equipment startup support, commissioning, training, punch-list, turnover, and closeout activities.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other operations team members.
  • Partner with field leadership to ensure project teams are properly staffed and positioned for success.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively and provide the direction and resources necessary for project teams to perform at a high level.

Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of commercial construction experience, including significant experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering advanced manufacturing, industrial, or process-related construction projects.
  • Proven ability to oversee projects throughout the complete lifecycle, from preconstruction and estimating through commissioning and final closeout.
  • Experience managing construction within active manufacturing or controlled operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of process utilities, equipment installation, automation, controls, material handling, and building-systems coordination.
  • Experience planning shutdowns, phased construction, utility tie-ins, equipment setting, startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Strong estimating experience, including the ability to develop and evaluate budgets, detailed scopes of work, bid packages, subcontractor proposals, and cost comparisons.
  • Established business development experience with a demonstrated ability to develop client relationships, lead pursuits, and secure new work.
  • Strong knowledge of the Dallas and Texas advanced manufacturing construction markets is preferred.
  • Previous experience leading multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
  • A four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction management, engineering, architecture, or business is strongly preferred. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, cost reports, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of current market conditions, including pricing trends, subcontractor availability, long-lead procurement challenges, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Adobe, JD Edwards, and other project-specific software platforms.

 Technical Experience:

  • Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing environments, including cleanrooms, dry rooms, process utilities, central utility plants, laboratories, production areas, and high-density MEP and process infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of systems such as high-purity water, process-cooling water, compressed air, specialty gases, bulk gases, process exhaust, chemical distribution, waste treatment, vacuum, HVAC, controls, and life-safety systems.
  • Experience coordinating base-building construction, process systems, tool installation, equipment vendors, original equipment manufacturers, and facility infrastructure.
  • Understanding of cleanroom classifications, contamination control, environmental requirements, and construction protocols within operational or controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing complex equipment move-in, hook-up, startup, commissioning, and production-readiness sequences.
  • Ability to understand and manage the interfaces among facility design, process design, equipment requirements, structural systems, MEP systems, automation and controls, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience developing and managing integrated schedules that align construction completion with equipment delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, and production milestones.
  • Understanding of quality-control requirements, system validation, documentation, and turnover expectations for technically complex manufacturing facilities.

Leadership Competencies:

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Serve as a trusted leader and subject-matter expert throughout the project decision-making process.
  • Communicate complex construction, equipment, and operational information clearly and professionally.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Create and execute strategic business development plans for the Dallas Advanced Manufacturing market.
  • Lead client presentations, interviews, and project pursuits with confidence.
  • Anticipate operational risks and develop solutions that protect safety, production, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Take initiative, accept responsibility, and maintain accountability for results.
  • Coach, train, and develop operations team members.
  • Balance competing priorities and determine which issues require immediate attention.
  • Adapt to changing technology, production requirements, construction methods, and market conditions.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach throughout every phase of a project.
  • Demonstrate integrity consistent with The HITT Way and HITT’s core values.
  • Promote collaboration among team members with different professional backgrounds and working styles.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in personal knowledge, leadership capabilities, and operational performance.
  • Exhibit professionalism by being punctual, prepared, engaged, and respectful of others.
