Commercial Construction Superintendent

The Commercial Construction Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day management of field operations and project execution. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead all onsite construction activities from project startup through completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trade partners, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, productivity, and quality of work.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to align field operations with project budgets and schedules.
  • Identify and proactively resolve construction challenges, delays, and conflicts.
  • Manage project logistics, site access, deliveries, staging areas, and material flow.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Maintain strict compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and daily coordination activities.
  • Perform quality control inspections and oversee corrective actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate inspections with municipalities, owners, architects, and consultants.
  • Monitor manpower requirements and workforce performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, safety records, and progress updates.
  • Support project closeout activities, punch list completion, turnover documentation, and owner acceptance.

A successful Commercial Construction Superintendent should have: Problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges effectively. 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing commercial construction projects. Experience with ground-up and/or large-scale commercial construction projects. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and site logistics. Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multiple trades simultaneously. Knowledge of construction safety regulations, OSHA standards, and quality control processes. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules. Experience coordinating inspections and working directly with owners, architects, and consultants. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication and organizational abilities. Proficiency with project management software, Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar tools preferred. Stable work history with a reputation for delivering projects on time and within budget.
