Commercial Development Engineer 1

The Commercial Development Engineer 1 is a full-time position responsible for developing, integrating, and evolving DIRECTV for Business products, platforms, and technology solutions. Working within DIRECTV For Business's Commercial Engineering organization, this role contributes to entertainment platform modernization, cloud services, automation initiatives, advertising technology solutions and innovations, and next-generation customer experiences that drive business growth and operational excellence.

You'll collaborate across product, platform, software, cloud, and operations teams to build and evolve DIRECTV for Business entertainment platforms and services. What You'll Do:

Product Development & Platform Engineering

• Design, develop, integrate, and support DIRECTV for Business products, platforms, and services.
• Contribute to new product capabilities, platform enhancements, cloud-based services, and technology integrations.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, operations, and business teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Support proof-of-concept initiatives, technology evaluations, product launches, test tools, and platform modernization efforts.

DIRECTV Advertising & Ad Sales Platform Development

• Support the design, development, integration, and enhancement of DIRECTV Advertising and Ad Sales products and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Ad Sales Operations, Data, Analytics, and Engineering teams to deliver advertising technology solutions.
• Support audience targeting, campaign management, measurement, analytics, reporting, and monetization platforms.
• Troubleshoot and investigate advertising field issues and develop new technical capabilities surrounding Commercial ad insertion.
• Support deployment readiness, issue resolution, and ongoing platform enhancements across Connected TV (CTV), streaming, and digital advertising ecosystems.

Automation & DevOps

• Contribute to automation initiatives that improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Improve observability and capabilities for testing and automation.
• Participate in CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, deployment, and platform support activities.
• Support security, compliance, vulnerability remediation, and operational excellence initiatives.

Vendor & Technology Partnerships

• Collaborate with technology vendors and development partners supporting DIRECTV for Business products and services.
• Support technology evaluations, integrations, interoperability efforts, and issue resolution activities.
• Communicate technical findings, recommendations, risks, and project status to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 2 – 3 years of experience in product engineering, platform engineering, software development, DevOps, or a related technical role.
• Experience with one or more programming languages including Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of DevOps workflows, cloud computing concepts, Linux operating systems, and computer networking fundamentals.
• Understanding of modern software development practices and product lifecycle management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with a results-driven attitude and the ability to take ownership of technical initiatives.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Application Development or Web Development technologies.
• Experience with digital video transmission and processing.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with Observability and Monitoring Tools, such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, etc.
• Experience supporting digital advertising, AdTech, Connected TV (CTV), streaming platforms, audience measurement, video monetization, or programmatic advertising solutions.
• Familiarity with AI Technologies related to Video Processing.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position and work location(s) listed in the job posting US Labor Market Zone(s). Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONE

N3: $116,886 - $175,329

Please note that the salary ranges reflect base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits - when you consider all of these together, it represents a pretty impressive total compensation package.
