Summary:

The Commercial Director, Power Infrastructure will own and grow revenue for our bi-directional inverter and power delivery platform (400kW-3.2MW) across two priority markets: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Data Centers.

This is a new-business role focused on origination rather than account management. You will be expected to build pipeline from the ground up, lead technically complex sales cycles, and close deals directly. Equally important, you will build the commercial function itself - process, tooling, and early hires - as the business scales. This is a rare opportunity for a senior commercial leader who wants ownership of a market from day one, not a pre-built territory.

Given the technical depth of the buying conversation - grid interconnection, power quality, bi-directional/grid-forming behavior, BESS integration, and data center power architecture - this role requires more than generalist sales leadership. Our buyers are frequently CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and Heads of Infrastructure who expect to engage with a technically credible counterpart. A strong engineering foundation is essential to establishing that credibility and leading these conversations independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and run your own pipeline into BESS integrators, developers, EPCs, and data center operators/colocation providers, this is a new-business-heavy mandate.
  • Own complex, technical, multi-stakeholder sales cycles end-to-end, from first outreach through commercial negotiation and contract close.
  • Engage credibly with customer engineering teams on system sizing, grid interconnection, power quality (THDi, power factor), and bi-directional/grid-support requirements, independently and with credibility.
  • Negotiate commercial terms on large-scale infrastructure deals, including multi-unit and multi-site rollouts.
  • Design and stand up the commercial process, pipeline reporting, and sales tooling needed to scale beyond a single contributor.
  • Define and refine ICP, market segmentation, and go-to-market approach for BESS and data center verticals in partnership with leadership.
  • Represent the commercial voice of the customer back into product and engineering - pricing feedback, competitive intelligence, feature gaps.
  • Develop deep relationships with key accounts, integrators, and influencers across the BESS and data center power ecosystem.
  • Represent the company at industry events and technical forums relevant to grid-tied power electronics and energy storage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales and business development within the power infrastructure or energy sector.
  • Prior hands-on experience in an engineering capacity - design, applications, or field engineering - in power electronics, grid-tied inverters, energy storage, or related electrical infrastructure, before or alongside moving into a commercial role.
  • Technical fluency at the level of an engineering peer: able to discuss efficiency, THDi, power factor correction, grid interconnection requirements, earthing topologies, and bi-directional/grid-forming behavior unscripted, and to respond credibly when a customer''s technical team raises an objection.
  • A demonstrated track record of originating and closing large, technically complex infrastructure or capital equipment deals, rather than managing inbound leads or renewing existing accounts.
  • Direct experience selling into BESS and/or data center power infrastructure markets - including experience working with EPCs, system integrators, and/or utility project developers - with an existing network of relevant relationships - ideally including engineering and technical decision-makers rather than procurement-only contracts.
  • A self-starter mentality - comfortable building process and pipeline with limited existing infrastructure in place.
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills on large-value, multi-stakeholder infrastructure contracts.
  • A career path that blends engineering and commercial experience - e.g. time in design, applications, or systems engineering alongside sales engineering, business development, or commercial leadership roles. Exposure to thermal management systems, particularly liquid cooling of power electronics, is a plus given the liquid-cooled architecture of our platform.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop strategic initiatives.
