The Opportunity

Kraker Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Estimator – Pre-Construction Specialist to lead competitive electrical bidding and material takeoffs at our regional hub in Senoia, GA.

In this dedicated in-office pre-construction role, you will take ownership of the bidding lifecycle—transforming commercial architectural prints, structural drawings, and MEP schematics into accurate, profitable electrical cost estimates. You will perform digital quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, low-voltage logic, and branch wiring while negotiating material pricing with regional suppliers. Key Responsibilities

• Digital Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate, itemized digital takeoffs for commercial power distribution systems, interior/exterior lighting, fire alarms, gear, and branch wiring.
• Schematic & Specification Review: Read and analyze architectural blueprints, structural drawings, MEP engineering schematics, and project specification manuals to identify scope parameters and design gaps.
• Material & Labor Costing: Calculate detailed material lists, specialized equipment rentals, labor hours, and production rates based on National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and project specifications.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Solicitation: Coordinate with electrical material distributors, gear manufacturers, and specialty sub-trades to solicit and negotiate competitive pricing.
• Scope Definition & Value Engineering: Develop clear, unambiguous scopes of work for field teams while identifying potential cost-saving or value-engineering opportunities.
• Project Handover Alignment: Compile organized pre-construction handoff packages to ensure field superintendents and project managers are aligned on approved budgets and execution plans.
• Estimating Database Maintenance: Maintain and update internal pricing databases, material cost matrices, and historical bid data in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

• Dedicated Estimating Tenure: Minimum 3 years of professional experience formulating commercial electrical construction estimates.
• Schematic Literacy: Advanced ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference complex commercial architectural, civil, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Code & Systems Mastery: Functional knowledge of commercial electrical distribution, panelboards, transformers, motor controls, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
• Software Literacy: Proficiency in professional electrical estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, Bluebeam, or Planswift) and Microsoft Excel.
• Local Commute Orientation: Residence in or within comfortable daily commuting distance of Senoia, GA (Peachtree City, Newnan, or surrounding Coweta/Fayette County areas).

Preferred

• Field Trade Experience: Prior hands-on experience as a commercial electrician, electrical journeyman, or field foreman.
• Vendor Network: Established relationships with regional Georgia electrical distributors and equipment vendors.
