Before lunch, you’re running load calculations for a tenant improvement, reviewing engineered drawings, and finalizing a plan set bound for the building department. By afternoon, you’re coordinating with project managers, answering RFIs, and mentoring a rising journeyman on code interpretation. You close the day with a quality and safety sweep, leaving the site buttoned up and ready for tomorrow.
What You Will Own
- Leadership of commercial and field electrical projects from kickoff to closeout, ensuring compliance with local codes and industry standards.
- Electrical engineering assessments, load calculations, and system design development for diverse commercial scopes.
- Preparation, review, and submission of electrical drawings and documents for permit approval with the building department.
- Cross-functional coordination with project managers, electricians, and trade partners to execute installations seamlessly.
- Regular site visits to track progress, troubleshoot, and uphold safety and quality benchmarks.
- Hands-on technical guidance and mentorship for field teams.
- Continuous monitoring of changes to national and local electrical codes and best practices.
What You Bring
- Journeyman or Master Electrician credential.
- 10+ years of experience focused on commercial and field electrical work.
- Strong grounding in electrical engineering concepts and load calculations.
- Ability to read, draft, and submit electrical plans for permits.
- Fluency with applicable electrical codes and regulations.
- Analytical mindset, problem-solving ability, and project management discipline.
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication.
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced settings.
- Bonus: proficiency with electrical design/planning software.
