A leading mechanical construction and service organization is seeking an experienced HVAC Senior Mechanic to join its Special Projects team.

This position plays a critical role in the installation, replacement, and commissioning of commercial HVAC systems across a variety of project environments. The Senior Mechanic will provide hands-on leadership in the field, oversee installation activities, mentor junior technicians, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and perform commercial HVAC equipment installations, retrofits, and system replacements.
- Install and coordinate the installation of rooftop units, air handlers, chillers, ductwork, piping systems, and related HVAC components.
- Interpret project drawings, specifications, and installation plans to ensure accurate execution of work.
- Support project managers and field leadership by forecasting manpower, material requirements, and project needs.
- Install copper refrigerant piping systems for VRF equipment, including brazing, pressure testing, evacuation procedures, and refrigerant charging calculations.
- Perform installations involving low- and medium-pressure duct systems, spiral ductwork, fiber duct, and Category I-IV venting systems.
- Conduct airflow calculations and assist with system balancing requirements using industry-standard methods and tools.
- Complete material takeoffs for ductwork and piping systems as required for project planning and execution.
- Coordinate work activities with subcontractors and other trades to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to less experienced technicians and mechanics.
- Monitor installation progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize project delays.
- Maintain clear communication with project management regarding project status, field conditions, and resource requirements.
- Document daily progress, labor utilization, and material consumption as required.
- Promote a strong safety culture and maintain compliance with jobsite safety requirements and company standards.
- Represent the organization professionally while fostering positive relationships with customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

- Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC installation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small crews and manage complex HVAC equipment changeouts with limited supervision.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, equipment installation practices, and industry standards.
Experience installing refrigerant piping systems, ductwork, ventilation systems, and HVAC equipment.
Ability to review field conditions and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project completion.
Effective communication and coordination skills when working with project teams, subcontractors, and customers.
Proficiency with installation-related calculations, measurements, and trade mathematics.
Ability to manage multiple project phases and prioritize workload in a fast-paced construction environment.
