Job Description

The Commercial HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. This position ensures equipment operates efficiently and safely while delivering high-quality service to customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $28.00 per hour.

The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

401(k) - You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial HVAC service experience.
  • EPA Universal Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues.
  • Valid driver''s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • HVAC trade school certification or technical degree.
  • Experience with chillers, boilers, BAS/BMS systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • NATE Certification.
  • Experience servicing large commercial facilities, healthcare facilities, data centers, or industrial environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of HVAC codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency for work order and maintenance management systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and bending.
  • Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, and elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours and emergency service calls as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, chillers, air handlers, split systems, and control systems.
  • Inspect and test system components to identify operational issues.
  • Install, replace, and commission HVAC equipment and components.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, control circuits, relays, and related equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust building automation and control systems as necessary.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and equipment failures.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and management regarding equipment conditions and repair recommendations.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
