    Job Description

    A day in the life

You start from home, review your dispatch in the ticketing system, load the service van, and head to your first stop in the Northern Birmingham, AL market. One visit might be a hospital where a washer is faulting mid‑cycle; the next could be a fitness center with a dryer that won’t heat. You diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, install the right parts, and verify the fix. Throughout the day, you keep customers informed, log your time, parts used, mileage, and fuel, and coordinate with the service manager, parts team, and vendors so everything runs smoothly. You’ll also pitch in with installation crews on equipment installs and deliveries when needed and wrap up the day by tidying tools and preparing for tomorrow.

    Role overview

As a Service Technician focused on commercial laundry equipment (washers, dryers, ironers and more) across On‑Premises Laundry and Vended environments, you’ll repair, maintain, and help install systems at businesses such as gyms, hospitals, and motels. Your professionalism and follow‑through build lasting customer relationships and power our growth.

    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial laundry equipment (OPL and Vended)
    • Replace components and perform adjustments to return machines to peak performance
    • Record service work accurately, including labor time and parts/materials used
    • Track and report travel details, including mileage and fuel purchases
    • Communicate clearly with customers about findings, next steps, and preventive care
    • Collaborate with the service manager, parts department, and vendors to ensure timely, accurate outcomes
    • Care for company‑supplied tools, test equipment, and service vehicle
    • Assist installation crews with equipment installs and deliveries when scheduled
    • Support other tasks that keep the department running efficiently

    Where you’ll work

    • Primary territory: Northern Birmingham, AL
    • Frequent travel within the assigned territory; occasional overnight travel for special projects

    What you bring

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 2+ years in mechanical repair; experience with laundry equipment is a plus but not required (equivalent education/training/experience considered)
    • Hands‑on familiarity with electrical test instruments and diagnostic/programming tools
    • Comfort with phone and email/ticketing systems for customer support (preferred)
    • Competent with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel (preferred)

Skills that set you up for success

    • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
    • Organized and detail‑oriented; able to prioritize and self‑manage multiple jobs and deadlines
    • Clear, professional communication with customers and internal teams
    • Resilient and adaptable when plans change or problems are ambiguous
    • Self‑starter with initiative, persistence, and a strong work ethic

    Physical and standard requirements

    • Activities include sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, climbing, and frequent manual dexterity
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. frequently; assistive devices are provided for heavier items
    • Regularly required to talk and hear and use hands for tools and controls; frequent computer‑based work with periods of sitting; requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus
