A well-established law firm in the East Meadow, NY area is seeking a Paralegal to join its busy Banking & Commercial Lending practice. This position is being added as a replacement for a longtime team member who is moving on.
The Paralegal will support a collaborative group of partners, associates, and paralegals handling a high volume of commercial lending and commercial real estate transactions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented paralegal who wants to continue developing their transactional experience. The role will initially focus on transaction support, document preparation, due diligence, and closing coordination, with the opportunity to take on increasingly substantive responsibilities as they develop within the team.
Support attorneys and paralegals throughoutcommercial lending and real estate transactions.
Track the status of active matters and ensure deadlines and outstanding items are followed through to completion.
Prepare, format, proofread, and organize legal and closing documents.
Maintain organized electronic and physical client and transaction files.
Assist with commercial loan and real estate closings, including preparation of closing binders and post-closing documentation.
Collect and conduct preliminary reviews of due diligence materials, including:
Title documents
Insurance
Organizational documents
Lease agreements
Other transaction and closing materials
Communicate with attorneys, clients, title companies, insurance companies, and other transaction parties.
Provide administrative and transactional support to the Banking & Commercial Lending team as needed.
As experience develops, take greater ownership of due diligence, title review, and smaller commercial loan transactions under attorney supervision.
Ideally 3–5 years of paralegal experience; candidates with somewhat less or more experience will also be considered.
Commercial lending/banking experience highly preferred.
Strong commercial real estate transactional and closing experience will also be considered.
Familiarity with the commercial loan and/or CRE closing process.
Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
Candidates with an Associate's degree and relevant experience may also be considered.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage a high-volume workload and multiple transactions simultaneously.
Sharp, motivated, and eager to learn and take on additional responsibility.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The ideal candidate is a sharp, motivated junior-to-mid-level paralegal who understands the fundamentals of commercial lending or commercial real estate transactions and wants an opportunity to grow.
You don't need to walk in knowing everything. The firm is looking for someone who is a fast learner, highly organized, responsive, and capable of growing into more hands-on transactional responsibilities in a busy practice.
$75,000–$85,000 compensation paid hourly, based on experience
Paid hourly based on a 35-hour standard workweek
Straight-time compensation for hours between 35–40
