Position Overview

The Commercial Lending Support Supervisor provides direct leadership, oversight, and operational direction to the Commercial Lending support team. This critical leadership role bridges the gap between commercial loan origination and loan settlement. The Supervisor ensures the support team efficiently guides loans through the pipeline from origination to approval, gathers mandatory pre-closing documentation and maintains strict compliance and service level guidelines to help ensure accurate and efficient loan settlements. The Supervisor also helps ensure the support team actively assists commercial loan officers with portfolio management responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures accurate and timely servicing of the company's commercial loan portfolio by leading a team of Lending Specialists who work in partnership with loan officers and other members of the department.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the commercial loan life cycle, including commercial real estate (CRE), commercial & Industrial (C&I), and SBA lending mechanics.
  • Partners with lenders and the team of Lending Specialists to manage processing of line renewals, annual reviews, and other portfolio management responsibilities including obtaining required financial and other information draws.
  • Helps loan officers prepare new credit requests and renewal requests for credit underwriting.
  • Assists loan officers with loan funding either at settlement, for construction loan advances, or advances on lines of credit.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all company commercial and retail products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of company operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.
  • Meets with customers along with Commercial Loan Officers to sign documents and distribute proceeds when requested.
  • Makes follow-up calls to attorneys and/or title companies to obtain missing/inaccurate information to clear exceptions; obtains corrected documents. Prepares memos when needed for loan officers regarding exceptions.
  • Creates and organizes commercial loan files; checks files for accuracy; reviews checklist for all documents needed.
  • Processes title insurance policies.
  • Supervises assigned team that may be dispersed at various locations throughout the banking footprint.
  • Ensures department activities run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provides training and support to other department personnel as required.
  • Communicates effectively with high-net worth business clients, executives, and attorneys.
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail and focuses on quality assurance and risk mitigation.
  • Reviews complex corporate structures, organizational documents, title policies, and commercial insurance certifications.
  • Demonstrates project management skills to ensure loan pipelines progress to meet tight settlement deadlines.
  • Monitors reports for portfolio management of assigned lenders as needed, including exceptions, financials, and renewals.

Education & Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's or Associate's degree in related field preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) year's related experience normally required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the footprint to meet and interact with assigned employees and lenders.

Skill(s)

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; deep understanding of the commercial loan life cycle, including commercial real estate (CRE), commercial & Industrial (C&I), and SBA lending mechanics; expert-level proficiency in reviewing complex corporate structures, organizational documents, complex title policies, and commercial insurance certifications; familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) and core banking platforms; exceptional project management and time management skills; able to communicate effectively with high-net-worth business clients, executives, and attorneys; high attention to detail and an analytical mindset focused on quality assurance and risk mitigation; knowledge of commercial loan processing; proficient PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills.

We set standard salary ranges for our roles based on the position, function, and responsibilities, as benchmarked against similarly sized companies in our industry. Specific compensation offered will be determined based on a combination of factors including the candidate's knowledge, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials. The salary range may vary based on geographic location.
