Job Summary: NAES is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a power generation project in Texas, with responsibility for leading commissioning activities from early design through startup and turnover. The project includes installation and commissioning of aeroderivative gas turbines and reciprocating engines, with future expansion into combined cycle operations, and requires a hands-on leader who can support engineering reviews, develop commissioning procedures and plans, and oversee execution in the field to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable startup.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Lead development of the overall commissioning plan, including procedures, test documentation, and execution strategy • Review engineering designs, P&IDs, and control logic to ensure commissioning readiness and operability • Provide early input on system design, constructability, and startup sequencing • Oversee and direct pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities across all plant systems • Lead and manage commissioning personnel, OEM representatives, and subcontractors • Coordinate and execute functional testing, system integration, and performance testing • Support commissioning of aeroderivative gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and future combined cycle systems • Ensure proper execution of black start procedures, load bank testing, and island mode operations • Lead system walkdowns, punch list development, and turnover package completion • Interface with construction, engineering, and operations teams to ensure a seamless transition to commercial operation
Job Requirements: • Demonstrated experience in power plant commissioning, startup, or operations leadership roles • Strong experience with gas turbine technologies (GE LM6000, LM2500, 7FA, or similar) • Demonstrated experience developing commissioning procedures and startup documentation • Experience with combined cycle power plants and system integration • Familiarity with plant controls, electrical systems, and protection schemes • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, multi-phase project environment • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Education / Experience: • 10+ years of experience in power plant commissioning, startup, or operations, with a strong focus on gas turbine facilities • Experience developing commissioning procedures, startup plans, and turnover strategies • Familiarity with aeroderivative and large frame gas turbines (LM6000, LM2500, LMS100, 7FA, or similar) • Proven ability to work effectively with engineering, construction, OEMs, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle
