COMMISSIONING MANAGER-Level 3 - Senior (11 - 15 Years)

Location: Juno Beach, Florida (Remote)

Role Overview

As a Commissioning Manager, you will work with a large developer of photovoltaic utility systems. This role supports utility-scale energy projects by leading and coordinating commissioning activities from mechanical completion through energization, startup, testing, and turnover. You will act as the Owner's representative, overseeing system compliance, status reporting, and testing while managing work performed by contractors and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning plans across electrical, controls, and power systems, coordinating daily activities with EPCs, OEMs, testing vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support interconnection and grid compliance testing (PPA, GIA/LGIA, ISO) and lead system walkdowns and punch list closure.
  • Monitor field activities for safety and standards compliance, collecting and reviewing test results and turnover documentation.
  • Manage test energy forecasts and AVR/AGC notifications with customers and relevant external parties.
  • Develop commissioning schedules and verify SCADA HMI functionality and accuracy.
  • Prepare projects for PPA, GIA, and ISO testing.
  • Conduct performance analytics of PV power plant systems, including inverters, trackers, substations, and control systems (SCADA).
  • Identify technical issues and support resolution with engineering and operations teams.

Required Qualifications

Education: An engineering degree or equivalent experience is required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience involving utility solar power systems is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of utility-scale photovoltaic construction and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale photovoltaic components such as PV modules, combiners, inverters, transformers, met stations, and substations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / 365.
  • Effective communication skills with third parties and executives.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional or graduate-level academic experience in utility PV systems.
  • Prior experience with SCADA systems of industrial plants or processes.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with electrical grid participants such as Transmission Operators, Independent System Operators, and Balancing Authorities.

Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel within the United States to project locations, estimated at a maximum of 20%. The role requires the ability to work in active construction environments and manage extended commissioning windows as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded HMI controls.
  • Must be able to handle prolonged periods of screen time.
  • A valid drivers license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle is required. For this position, a validation of a non-restricted current drivers license is necessary, with no alcohol/drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years and no current license suspension or restriction.
