Location: Ulysses Feedyard | Ulysses, Kansas

Position Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.

About the Position

The Commodity Clerk plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the commodity department at Ulysses Feedyard. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate commodity records, processing incoming and outgoing truck transactions, assisting with bookkeeping, and coordinating with the Corporate Commodity Department.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment while providing excellent customer service to vendors, truck drivers, and fellow employees.

This position reports directly to the Office Manager at Ulysses Feedyard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with processing incoming and outgoing commodity trucks using the grain kiosk system or manual ticketing procedures.
• Coordinate with the Corporate Commodity Department to reconcile commodity tickets, micro-ingredient deliveries, and related records.
• Maintain and update daily Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to provide accurate commodity information to feedyard management.
• Track invoices, commodity purchases, and other accounts payable transactions to ensure accurate recordkeeping and timely processing.
• Review commodity documentation for accuracy and assist with resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Greet and assist truck drivers, vendors, customers, and other visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls and assist with general office inquiries.
• Work closely with the Office Manager and commodity team to support the daily administrative needs of the feedyard.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
• Basic bookkeeping, data entry, or accounts payable experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with team members across multiple departments.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in an agricultural, feedyard, or commodity-related office environment is a plus but not required.
