MCA, your trusted advisor for wireless communications, data, and security, is seeking an experienced Communication Systems Technician in the Eastern region of Maryland (Eastern Shore) to support our fast-growing Voice (MSS) division.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Installing, programming, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex two-way radio and LMR communication systems (e.g., P25 and ASTRO 25 systems, Motorola APX radios, MOTOTRBO/DMR platforms, VHF/UHF LMR infrastructure, trunked and conventional radio networks, and dispatch consoles).

Restoring communications services quickly by identifying root cause, executing corrective actions, and verifying system performance for government and commercial sector customers.

Performing field service work, including site visits, turn-ups, cutovers, acceptance testing, signal/coverage verification, and documentation of all configurations and system changes.

Partnering with customers to plan installation and programming strategies, coordinate access, and ensure site readiness prior to system deployment.

Assisting in scope development, quoting, and estimating for service, installation, and programming projects.

Supporting preventive maintenance activities, firmware/software updates, subscriber reprogramming, and configuration management to ensure system reliability.

Making minor mechanical/electronic modifications as required (e.g., connectors, wiring, antenna adjustments, accessory integration).

Completing service tickets accurately and on time, including documentation of work performed, parts used, and recommended follow-up actions.

Mentoring junior technicians by providing technical guidance, hands-on coaching, best practices for troubleshooting and installation, and support in developing their skills.

Demonstrating a willingness to learn, grow, and be mentored on new technologies, equipment, and communication system platforms.

Participating in an on-call rotation and providing after-hours support to meet customer uptime needs.

Performing other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:

Minimum 3+ years of experience in technical service or installation (5+ years preferred), ideally supporting two-way radio/LMR communication systems.

Demonstrated proficiency in installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of radio communications equipment and infrastructure.

Proven experience supporting complex systems such as P25/ASTRO 25 systems, Motorola APX radios, MOTOTRBO/DMR platforms, VHF/UHF LMR infrastructure, trunked and conventional networks, repeaters, and dispatch consoles.

Strong knowledge of radio theory, RF fundamentals, propagation characteristics across various frequency bands, and communication system behavior.

Experience with subscriber programming and configuration, with the ability to program multiple radio types based on customer requirements.

Solid communication skills with end users, dispatch personnel, contractors, and third-party vendors.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, work independently, and maintain quality and safety standards in fast-paced environments.

Technical certifications/licenses preferred (e.g., Motorola training, FCC GROL, ETA, safety certifications).

Successfully passing a background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check as a condition of employment, and maintaining compliance with company standards throughout employment.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, humidity, and dry/windy conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

Critical systems maintenance may be required. First shift hours are Monday-Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekend work depending on project schedules.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

You will be expected to travel as needed to support the company and customers as required. A company vehicle will be provided for business-related travel. A valid driver's license is required, and you must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.

Candidate must reside within the Eastern region of Maryland (Eastern Shore).
