The Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center (VALRC) at VCU's School of Education (SOE) seeks a Communications and Assistance Specialist who will contribute to a climate that supports all students, faculty, and staff. The Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center (VALRC) at VCU is a grant-funded center in the School of Education that provides adult education and literacy resources, publications, and training for adult education instructors and program managers throughout the state of Virginia. The VALRC's mission is to equip the field of adult education and literacy with essential skills and resources through effective training, publications, curriculum design, and program development. We do this by ensuring that the field of adult education and literacy has the best available tools and training to help adult learners build a better future. The Communications and Assistance role is foundational to that mission.
The selected candidate will serve as the first line of communication and support for the state's field of adult education by providing high-quality customer service through email, phone, and social media. This role also supports the VALRC by assisting with event planning and providing technical support for the online courses and training events that we deliver. This is a virtual position that will require occasional participation in in-person meetings and events.
