Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Reports To: Superintendent

Contract: 220 Days

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Purpose

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing and

implementing a comprehensive communications and marketing program that promotes the

mission, vision, accomplishments, and strategic priorities of Heber Springs School District.

This position serves as the district''s communication coordinator, brand manager, media liaison,

and community engagement coordinator. The coordinator builds positive relationships with

students, staff, families, community members, local businesses, alumni, and media while

ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent communication.

The position supports the Superintendent and Board of Education by strengthening public

confidence in the district and increasing awareness of student achievement, educational

opportunities, and district initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and implement the district''s annual communications and marketing plan.
  • Create communication strategies that support district goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent district branding across all schools and departments.
  • Develop messaging that promotes transparency, trust, and community engagement.

Public Relations

  • Serve as the district''s primary media contact.
  • Write and distribute press releases and media advisories.
  • Coordinate interviews and media requests.
  • Promote positive stories highlighting student achievement, staff excellence, and district

innovation.

  • Develop relationships with local newspapers, television, radio, and online media.

Digital Communications

  • Manage and update the district website.
  • Oversee all district social media platforms.
  • Create engaging digital content including:
  • Photos
  • Videos
  • Graphics
  • Infographics
  • News stories
  • Reels and short-form video
  • Ensure digital communications are accessible and ADA compliant.

Marketing

  • Develop campaigns promoting:
  • Student enrollment
  • Academic programs
  • Career and Technical Education
  • Fine Arts
  • Athletics
  • School events
  • Community partnerships
  • Produce brochures, flyers, newsletters, annual reports, and promotional materials.
  • Protect and strengthen the district''s visual identity and brand standards.

Photography and Videography

  • Capture photos and videos at district events.
  • Develop promotional videos highlighting district programs.
  • Maintain an organized digital media library.

Community Engagement

  • Coordinate community outreach efforts.
  • Support district advisory committees.
  • Assist with Board of Education communications.
  • Organize ribbon cuttings, celebrations, recognition events, and community forums.
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, civic organizations, and alumni.

Crisis Communications

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the district crisis communication plan.
  • Coordinate communication during emergencies.
  • Prepare timely messaging for parents, staff, media, and community stakeholders.

Graphic Design

Create professional communication materials including:

  • Posters
  • Flyers
  • Infographics
  • Annual reports
  • Presentations
  • Recruitment materials
  • Event signage
  • Digital graphics

Data and Analytics

  • Monitor website traffic and engagement.
  • Analyze social media performance.
  • Measure effectiveness of communication campaigns.
  • Recommend improvements using data and community feedback.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend Board meetings as assigned.
  • Attend evening and weekend district events.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic

Design, or related field preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong photography and videography experience
  • Graphic design experience
  • Website management experience
  • Social media management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
