Position Overview
This position reports to the Director of Athletics Communications and assists other Sports Information Directors, student workers, athletics administrators, coaches, and student-athletes to produce successful execution of home games and special events.
Responsibilities
- Administrative tasks related to the internal, external, development, and communications areas of the department
- Gameday Operations - assist in providing the best gameday experience for every type of fan in the building
- This role functions similar to an internal beat reporter-the focus is on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media, graphics or other innovative formats
- Generating and overseeing the distribution of record books/media guides, news articles and short-form video, stats and social media interactions
- Responsible for developing external media relationships and managing media requests for assigned sports as well as managing gameday media relations duties, including game statistics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Organizational skills; ability to multi-task/manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills; willingness to learn and take initiative
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal/customer service skills
- Proven ability to work autonomously, collaboratively, and within a team structure.
- Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Office, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
- The ability to maintain confidentiality
