    Purpose of the Role:

    Responsible for all communication at the mine as designated by CO and Tracking.

    Key Role Accountabilities:

    • Communication pertaining to the movement and location of all persons underground
    • Responsible for all MSHA-required record-keeping and notifications required by the Emergency Response Plan
    • Relay all phone calls to underground or surface personnel through this department
    • Monitor site security cameras
    • Manage advancement, recovery, and budgeting of communication equipment and systems
    • Ensure the communication room is staffed at all times

    About you:

    Role Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
    • Working knowledge of MSHA communication regulations
    • Ability to assign and reprogram tracking tags and phones for miners

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of radio/phone communication, dispatch equipment, and broadcasting procedures
    • Ability to speak clearly under stress
    • Ability to maintain professional relationships in high-stress situations
    • Strong decision-making skills in emergencies
    • Familiarity with ERP responsibilities
    • Ability to maintain accurate records and an organized workspace
    • Ability to maintain/calibrate devices and equipment
    • Must be able to go underground occasionally for equipment tasks

    Experience:

    • Familiarity with mine Emergency Response Plan
    • Ability to read underground mine maps
    • Experience with SuccessFactors, SAP, and Kronos is a plus
    • Must maintain confidentiality
    • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Standing on uneven surfaces for long periods
    • Sitting up to 4 hours to operate equipment
    • Walking up to 4 hours in varying clearance conditions
    • Required PPE use
    • Ability to bend/stoop for full work periods
    • Climbing stairs, equipment, and ladders
    • Frequent lifting of 25-50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 80 lbs
    • Exposure to extreme conditions, noise levels, and confined spaces
    • Must work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

    Safety Sensitive Role Requirements:

    • No uncontrolled conditions that interfere with operating machinery
    • No uncontrolled respiratory or cardiac dysfunction
    • No severe uncontrolled high blood pressure
    • No unregulated mental/psychiatric disorder impacting safety
    • Must meet minimum vision and hearing requirements
