The City of Medford is seeking a full-time, limited-duration Communications Coordinator to support the City Manager's Office beginning in September and continuing through approximately mid-December 2026. The assignment may be extended based on department needs and City approval.
This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and likes helping people stay informed. The work may include writing content for the City's website, social media, and newsletters; helping with public information materials; creating graphics; taking photos or video; and supporting communications for City programs, services, and events.
We're looking for someone who is organized, comfortable managing multiple projects, and able to turn information into clear, helpful messages for the community. The anticipated hiring range for the Communications Coordinator position is $36.21 (first step) to $38.02 or $39.92 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This position primarily works indoors in an office setting with adequate lighting and regulated environmental conditions. Field work and travel may be required and expose the incumbent to various weather conditions and terrains. Occasional exposure to disruptive people and loud noises.
This position involves extended periods of sitting and standing with occasional pushing, pulling and lifting up to 25 pounds to operate, move and transport equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally, to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals, and a heightened awareness of hazards in various environments when conducting field work. The safe operation of a motor vehicle is required.
