Communications CoordinatorThe Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross (SCHC)About SCHCThe Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross is a not-for-profit organization rooted in the Episcopal Church. Since 1884, SCHC has welcomed women called to a life of prayer, thanksgiving, simplicity, and advocacy for social justice and peace. Today, nearly 700 Companions gather across 32 chapters in the U.S. and India, along with a vibrant virtual chapter connecting members who live outside a chapter's geographic reach.About the RoleSCHC is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Communications Coordinator to lead the day-to-day execution of the Society's communications strategy. Working closely with the General Manager, the Companion-in-Charge, and the Communications Committee Chairwoman, this role owns everything from website content and social media to publication design, event promotion, and community outreach. You'll be the driving force behind how SCHC tells its story - both to its members and to the wider world.This is an ideal opportunity for a communications professional who thrives in a collaborative, volunteer-driven environment and wants their work to have real spiritual and social impact.What You'll DoCommunications & PublicationsHelp implement SCHC's Annual Communication Plan alongside the Communications ChairwomanServe as staff support to the Communications Committee, reporting on initiatives and progressEdit, design, and distribute monthly and annual publications, newsletters, and mailingsEnsure all print and digital materials align with SCHC's brand and messagingDesignCreate collateral including flyers, banners, brochures, event signage, invitations, appeals, and holiday cardsLead design and development of the SCHC Annual ReportPartner with outside vendors on branded materials like business cards and letterheadEventsPlan and execute promotional campaigns for member programs and regional conferencesDevelop pre-event announcements, follow-up communications, and post-event recapsBuild and distribute post-event surveys, then share insights with leadershipCommunity OutreachEquip Companions with tools to promote SCHC in their own churches and communitiesSupport paid media placements in relevant religious publicationsIdentify inactive Companions and help craft re-engagement communicationsWebsite & Social MediaMaintain and regularly update content on member and public SCHC websites, including monthly blogsGrow SCHC's presence on Facebook and Instagram; monitor and respond to engagementTrack and report on digital communication performance, identifying opportunities to improveCoordinate video and blog content featuring Companion stories and chapter happeningsWhat You BringBachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field5+ years of professional experience in digital and print communicationsPrior experience in a nonprofit and/or volunteer-driven organizationStrong writing, editing, and proofing skills across newsletters, web content, and donor/member correspondenceExcellent graphic design skills and proficiency with WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office 365, and Google Drive (Blackbaud or similar CRM experience a plus)Hands-on social media management experience (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)A collaborative, relationship-building style - equally comfortable leading a project independently or partnering with volunteers and committeesStrong project management instincts and an eye for creative problem-solvingSCHC is committed to diversity and inclusion and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
