Position: Communications Director (Part-Time)

Start Date: June 15, 2026

Hours: 0.5 FTE (Up to 20 hours/week); hourly non-exempt

Reports to: Executive Pastor

Supervises: Graphic Designer, Communications Volunteer Team

Compensation & Benefits: Starting at $27-$30/hr (commensurate with experience), paid bi-weekly; pro-rated sick and vacation leave per Employee Handbook; no medical or dental benefits

Work Format: Hybrid. In-office Tuesday (8 hrs) and Thursday (8 hrs); Sundays as needed;remote hours flexible

Works closely with: Lead Pastor, Pastoral Staff, General Administrator, Graphic Designer, Ministry Leaders

Role Summary

Rooted in Epicentre Church's Identity, Mission, and Vision, and shaped by our Ministry Philosophy (Relational and Equipping Values), the Communications Director leads Epicentre's communications ministry within a focused part-time scope, helping the church family encounter God, disciple others, and live on mission through clear, timely, and engaging communication. This role provides strategic leadership for the church's internal and external communications, directing digital platforms, social media, print and visual media, website, and email, and shaping clear messages through announcements and storytelling.

Within 20 hours a week, the Communications Director focuses on the most important channels and content, works closely with the Graphic Designer and General Administrator on shared work, and apprentices a small volunteer team to extend the department's capacity.

Desired Outcomes (Core Responsibilities)

Channel Ownership & Weekly Cadence

  • E-news (1-2x/week): produce and send via Mailchimp, including Round-up and Nations highlights.
  • Sunday In-Person Announcements: collaborate with the Pastoral Team on the weekly script and pre-roll slides.
  • Social Media (Instagram primary, Facebook secondary): plan and post per the Social Media Calendar.
  • WhatsApp: admin the church-wide channel; steward groups; 2x/week posting cadence (more during church-wide initiatives).
  • Lifegroup Announcements: send/add weekly (Friday cadence).
  • Website (epicentre.org): keep premier pages current (homepage, event page, lifegroup page); maintain external listings (Google Maps, Antioch Movement).
  • Review Channels & Local Listings: manage/review Google My Business, Yelp, and Bing reviews; respond as appropriate and surface trends.
  • YouTube: livestream upload and descriptions; YouTube timestamps may be a volunteer task.
Content Production (with Graphic Designer)
  • Sermon Series: partner with the Production Team, Pastoral Team, and Graphic Designer on rollout.
  • Photography: oversee a volunteer team for Sundays and key events.
  • Video: produce vertical short-form for Instagram and partner on horizontal content for YouTube and e-news.
  • Graphics: source from the Graphic Designer; provide briefs, deadlines, and channel context.
Seasonal & Annual Initiatives
  • Easter, Advent, and WMLA campaigns: lead communication rollout (email, registration, website, social, print).
  • Annual Report: produce and distribute.
  • Annual Membership Meeting: communications support.
  • Fundraisers (e.g., Dschool Trip, Family Taiwan Trip, Thailand Team): channel rollout per the Fundraiser sequence.
Strategic Communications Leadership
  • Maintain and evolve the Communications Foundation Document ("Communications Bible"), including policies, tone, branding conventions, Epicentre lingo, channel rhythms, and seasonal sequences and pathways.
  • Provide a discernment framework for politically sensitive content; consult with Senior Equipping Team on response timing and messaging.
  • Crisis/emergency response communications: provide channel execution under the Executive Pastor's messaging direction.
Internal Communications, Systems & Onboarding
  • Manage Epicentre's internal communications platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom): account stewardship, usage norms, channels and spaces hygiene, and user support, working with the General Administrator.
  • Steward the Event + Facility Request Form (epicentre.org/event-request); maintain repetitive clarity with staff and ministries on usage.
  • Provide onboarding orientation for new staff on communications tools and norms.
  • Partner with ministries to create and steward their own ministry communication channels.
WMLA, Regional & Movement Support
  • Provide communications support for World Mandate LA (WMLA): channel rollout, registration flow, content production, and on-site needs, working with the Executive Pastor.
  • Support Antioch SoCal regional assignments: coordinate shared comms moments (e.g., joint events, regional updates) as requested.
  • Steward Movement-wide connection points: keep Epicentre's external Antioch Movement presence current (movement listings, regional channels).
Volunteer Team Development
  • Build toward two year-round volunteers serving on the Communications team.
  • Invite and apprentice volunteers in social media, photography, video, e-news writing, and graphic design.
  • Create lanes of participation that release ownership to lay members.
Pastoral Support & Church Leadership
  • Participate in staff meetings, staff prayer, retreats, and conferences (Epicentre and Antioch Movement).
  • Support church-wide ministries and resourcing (Sunday Services, key events).
  • Help carry and champion Epicentre's vision.
  • Perform any other task necessary to support the mission of Epicentre Church.

Training & Education
  • Completion of, or commitment to Epicentre/Antioch Discipleship School.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Prior communications, marketing, or ministry communications experience strongly desired.
  • Volunteer team coordination experience preferred.
