The Comms Team is responsible for conveying Snap's mission, vision and values to core audiences within our community, which include Snapchatters, Spectacles users, creators, developers, advertising partners, content partners, investors, policymakers, and Snap team members. This passionate team works hard to show the world what makes Snapchat, SPECS, and Lens Studio powerful platforms for communication, storytelling, and augmented reality innovation, and to ensure the narratives about the company, its people, and its products are accurate and compelling.

We're looking for a Communications Manager to join our Communications Team in Los Angeles!

What you'll do:

  • Develop and lead proactive communications and storytelling for Snapchat including in-app products and features, monetization programs, platform tools, and initiatives designed to support creator growth and long-term success.
  • Translate complex product updates, platform changes, and monetization programs into clear, compelling messaging for media, creators, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead external agency partner teams to support media strategy, storytelling, and execution.
  • Support communications across content and partnerships including sports, music, and more; identifying opportunities to tell compelling stories about how creators and partners use Snapchat to reach and engage audiences.
  • Develop communications strategies around major cultural and industry moments, including entertainment and sports tentpoles, creator activations, partnerships, and Snap-led initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters across the creator economy, technology, consumer, business, entertainment, sports, and culture beats, and proactively pitch stories that build sustained understanding of Snapchat and its creator ecosystem beyond individual launches.
  • Draft clear, compelling communications materials including Newsroom posts, messaging documents, FAQs, reactive talking points, briefing materials, media pitches, and other external and internal communications.
  • Organize press briefings, product demonstrations, creator and partner media opportunities, and prepare spokespeople and executives for interviews, speaking engagements, and other press moments.
  • Identify emerging trends across the creator economy, entertainment, sports, social platforms, and digital culture, using those insights to inform proactive communications opportunities and strengthen Snapchat's cultural relevance.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Product, Creator Partnerships, Content, Marketing, Legal, Policy, and other teams to develop coordinated communications strategies for launches, programs, partnerships, and platform changes.
  • Work across the Communications team to measure impact, track coverage and sentiment, and refine strategies based on performance and insights.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong relationships with reporters across the creator economy, technology, consumer, business, entertainment, sports, and culture, with a demonstrated ability to develop proactive stories and manage complex platform narratives.
  • Strong understanding of the creator and digital content ecosystem, including evolving creator business models, monetization, platform dynamics, and cultural trends.
  • Demonstrated experience developing communications strategies for consumer technology products, platforms, or features, including the ability to make complicated product and business concepts accessible to broad audiences.
  • Ability to move fluidly between proactive storytelling, product launches, partnerships, and reactive communications in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong editorial judgment, and fastidious attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently identify compelling stories and translate broader business, product, and cultural trends into earned-media opportunities.
  • Strong cross-functional relationship-building skills, including experience working with Product, Partnerships, Marketing, Legal, Policy, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously and operate effectively amid evolving priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience partnering with global communications teams on coordinated campaigns and announcements.
  • Experience working with and effectively managing external communications agency partners is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, product communications, or a related field, preferably within consumer technology, social platforms, the creator economy, media, or entertainment.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $157,000-$235,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $149,000-$223,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $133,000-$200,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.

About Company

Our Story

The name may have changed over the years, but the commitment made when the forerunner of SNAP (Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners) formed in 1966 remains its guiding purpose today. SNAP’s mission was, and is, to provide people of low income with access to needed resources, and to help them make the kinds of connections that create opportunity. Our goal always has been to help build a vibrant community that treats everyone with dignity and respect by advocating for that which is fair, honorable and equitable.

The foundation for what is now SNAP got its start in the summer of 1966, when Father Frank Bach, then the director of Catholic Charities in Spokane, enlisted the assistance of the St. Vincent DePaul Society to establish three community centers, in Hillyard, East Central and West Central Spokane, each with a goal of helping low-income people meet their emergency needs as well as to provide a multitude of services within those communities.

These centers and the community-based programs they initiated were so successful that the Spokane Community Action Agency took over the administration of the neighborhood centers. Unfortunately, that agency lost its funding in the summer of 1973. The programs would have been lost were it not for the intervention of a number of community leaders. New funding was secured and Catholic Charities again administered the program.

Striving to fill growing needs, the Neighborhood Centers had developed an annual budget in excess of $4 million by 1985 and were growing beyond the scope of Catholic Charities. On September 12, 1985, with Tom Pleas as Director, the centers became Spokane Neighborhood Centers, Inc. The incorporators were: P.J. Grabicki, Thelma Pugh, Robert Huckabay, Sheri Barnard, Clarence (Bud) Barnes, Nora Beggs, Ed Stevens and Bill Fearn. The corporation adopted bylaws on December 10, 1985.

Five years after incorporation, leadership shifted with the announced retirement of Director Pleas. The agency’s associate director, Larry Stuckart, was formally named executive director in July 1992. Julie Honekamp assumed the role of SNAP and SNAP Financial Access CEO in June of 2011.

From 1985 through the present, the agency has expanded services to meet the needs of a growing population, proving itself to be more than just “neighborhood centers.” Through continuing expansion and a variety of programs, the agency strives to facilitate long-term solutions for the people it serves.

The agency officially became Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs in December 1991, a name chosen to reflect the breadth of the agency’s operations. In Sheri S. Barnard’s Mayoral Proclamation, the agency pledged to continue providing quality services and to ensure that Spokane remains a place that cares about its citizens. In 2008, the name was officially shortened to “SNAP” and legally changed to Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners.

With a re-energized mission, vision and values statement, as well as a new visual identity, SNAP continues to respond to individual and community needs by providing a range of opportunities that offer stability to our vulnerable neighbors and encourage economic self-sufficiency for those who are able.
