About the role
The Localities Team comprises of three service teams: Communities, Parish Liaison & Local Devolution and Migrant Programmes. Through collaboration, connection and engagement, the Localities Team has two core aims:
Prevention and community resilience
Social Regeneration
The Communities Team approach is to work collaboratively in partnership with internal services, external partners; communities; and voluntary and community organisations to achieve shared community objectives, build and strengthen relationships and to support voluntary and community sector partners to become more sustainable and better able to meet increasing demand.
This role, based in Scarborough will work alongside colleagues in the East Communities Team to deliver the following programme of work:
Reduce adverse impacts of service or budget cuts on local communities and support communities to be prepared for and respond to emergencies (Community Resilience)
The posts are classified as suitable for hybrid working with an office base at one of the local Council Offices. They require travel across the East Communities Team patch, North Yorkshire, and occasionally beyond.
About you
This post requires a good knowledge and understanding of effective partnership working, as well as sound comprehension of the key challenges facing communities and public sector organisations in North Yorkshire. Experience of working with communities to support and enable them to develop, and a good understanding of the role of the community and voluntary sector in service delivery are also essential.
The work will require an entrepreneurial and motivated aptitude, excellent partnership and influencing skills, strong management capability, and the willingness and ability to work flexibly including some evenings and occasional weekends.
