Job Summary & General Information

The Community Agriculture Grower Programs Coordinator works under the direction of the Community Services Manager to coordinate and facilitate the Citys community grower initiatives, including the Grow-A-Row, Homegrown Harvest, Community Garden and Home Grower programs, as well as two off-farm giving gardens. This position serves as the primary contact for participating growers, ensuring successful crop planning, grower communication, seedling distribution, harvest coordination, and program tracking throughout the year. The Grower Programs Coordinator also collaborates closely with the farm team to align greenhouse production with community grower needs and supports the Citys mission of increasing local food production for donation and community resilience.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this classification.   • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Grow-A-Row, Homegrown Harvest, Community Garden and Home Grower programs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all participating growers.

  • Collaborate with staff to recruit, onboard, and retain program participants through community outreach and ongoing communication.

  • Maintain current grower contact information and participation records.

  • Track program participation, community garden volunteer hours, harvest donations, and other program metrics using the Citys volunteer management software and Fresh Food Connect.

  • Coordinate with staff to develop seasonal crop plans for grower programs.

  • · Manage the Heirloom production schedule for Grower Programs, collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure all seeds are started on schedule.

  • Coordinate greenhouse production schedules to ensure seedlings and seeds are available for all program distributions, correctly labeled and ready for pick up or delivery.

  • Prepare and organize seedling trays, seed packets, educational materials, and supplies for seasonal pickup events.

  • Assist with inventory of seeds, trays, greenhouse supplies, and grower materials.

  • Plan and facilitate seasonal orientation meetings for new and returning growers.

  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly virtual grower meetings to provide education, troubleshooting, seasonal updates, and community-building opportunities.

  • Provide routine guidance to growers regarding planting schedules, harvesting, crop maintenance, pest management, and donation procedures. Collaborate with the Education team to create educational opportunities for growers when needed.

  • Work with growers throughout the season to address questions and connect them with additional technical support when needed.

  • Coordinate seasonal seedling and supply distribution events.

  • Monitor harvest schedules and communicate regularly with growers regarding expected harvest timing.

  • Encourage consistent download and use of Fresh Food Connect for donation tracking.

  • Coordinate with North Fulton Community Charities regarding harvest logistics and program needs.

  • Compile seasonal reports summarizing grower participation, harvest totals, volunteer hours, and community impact.

  • Assist with greenhouse operations, including seeding, transplanting, watering, labeling, and plant care as needed.

  • Support farm production activities during peak seasons, including planting, harvesting, weeding, and crop maintenance.

  • Assist with Community Agriculture events and programming as assigned.

  • Collaborate with the Farm team during large community events, plant distributions, workshops, and volunteer workdays.

  • Maintain organized program records and databases.

  • Assist with development of educational materials, grower guides, newsletters, and program communications.

  • Support grant reporting by collecting program metrics and success stories.

  • Assist with annual program evaluation and recommendations for future improvements.

  • Perform related duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge of:

  • Coordinating volunteers, educational programs, or community engagement initiatives.

  • Vegetable gardening, horticulture, regenerative agriculture, or small-scale organic food production.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Food systems, sustainability, community agriculture, and food access.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with gardeners of varying experience levels.

  • Facilitate meetings, orientations, and educational presentations.

  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job qualifies.

  • High-school diploma
  • Two to three years of volunteer coordination experience with outdoor group management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including youth and adults.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Teams, spreadsheets, and online databases.
  • Experience with greenhouse propagation and seedling production preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Work schedule includes occasional evenings and weekends for orientations, distributions, educational programs, and special events.
