The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry is looking for a Community Corrections Officer (CCO) responsible for supervising individuals released from incarceration, ensuring compliance with supervision conditions, and supporting successful reintegration into the community. Core duties will include conducting intakes, risk and needs assessments, regular check-ins, home and workplace visits, case management plan development, coordination with mental health clinics and law enforcement agencies, documentation, and violation response.

| Job Duties: |
This role involves managing offender caseloads by balancing administrative, investigative, and counseling responsibilities:
- Case Management & Planning: Developing and implementing treatment or service plans based on thorough investigations into an offender’s social, financial, and employment background, which includes conducting home visits and interviews.
- Support & Coordination: Connecting offenders with community resources for rehabilitation and counseling, while providing guidance on their progress and daily living.
- Documentation & Legal Duties: Writing case notes, progress reports, and warrants for violations, as well as testifying at court or administrative hearings.
- Collaboration & Communication: Maintaining relationships with community groups, local officials, and the offender's family to resolve issues, while participating in staff meetings and consulting with supervisors on difficult case decisions.

| Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- State and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing adult community corrections system
- Principles, methods and techniques of investigating, surveillance, interviewing, assessing and paraprofessional counseling
- Principles, and techniques of caseload management
- Principles of sociology, and psychology
- Cultural, and socioeconomic differences and effects on human behaviors
- Rules, regulations and procedures of the work system and knowledge and application of evidenced based community risk and needs models
Skill in/ Ability to:
- Applying and interpreting Arizona Criminal Code and the applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the adult community corrections system
- Conducting investigations, searches, surveillance and interviews
- Managing caseloads
- Applying the principles and methods of sociology and psychology in interactions with offenders
- Crisis intervention
- Verbal and written communications
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, organizational and time management
| Selective Preference(s): |
- Preferred Bachelors or Masters Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) or more years of any combination of work experience in criminal justice/corrections, human services or social services is required with a focus on managing a caseload/case management practices or a leadership/supervisory position
- If no case management/caseload experience, seven (7) or more years of professional experience is required.
SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR:
- Must be twenty one (21) years of age prior to admission in a Corrections Training Academy.

Must attend and complete the Corrections Officer Training Academy (COTA) and the Community Corrections Officer Field Readiness Training .
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
Some positions require a medical/physical evaluation, psychological examination, pre-employment drug screening, and a background investigation prior to appointment. A current Arizona driver's license appropriate to the assignment is required at the time of appointment. As a condition of continued employment, employees in a safety-sensitive position may be subject to random drug testing, as required by Department Policy.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
