Job Title - Community Education Coordinator

Supervisor: Deputy Superintendent for School and Community Support

Job Goal:

  • To provide coordination and direction of afterschool and community education programs throughout the school system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Previous work experience with accounting and payroll.

  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.

  • Knowledge of and experience with purchasing and/or the ALSDE accounting system.

  • Knowledge of and experience with grant writing and grant management.

  • Experience supervising and training personnel.

  • Ability to prepare, maintain and monitor budgets using appropriate software.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and support strategic and operation goals of the system in areas or responsibility.

  • Ability to develop programming specific to the needs of students.

  • Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.

  • Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.

  • Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.

  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.

  • Acts as liaison between school principals, program specialists, site managers, site personnel and parents.

  • Oversees communications regarding the after school and community education program.

  • Coordinates registration and staffing for special education and/or special needs students in after school programs.

  • Coordinates with technology department regarding after school and community education accounting requirements.

  • Coordinates with Child Nutrition Program for snacks for after school and community education sites.

  • Facilitates annual ASCC site evaluations by principals.

  • Recommends personnel for after school and community education programs.

  • Coordinates personnel with principal or site managers based on site needs.

  • Prepares and implements training for after school and community education site managers and workers.

  • Reviews and recommends monthly payroll for all community education employees.

  • Facilitates review of weekly reports for all sites.

  • Assists CSFO and accounting personnel with monthly bank reconciliation.

  • Provides documentation for Board agenda items as needed.

  • Coordinates purchasing of supplies for all sites in accordance with Board finance procedures.

  • Reviews and recommends contracts for vendors.

  • Serves on system, state or community councils or committees as assigned.

  • Supervises assigned personnel.

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.

  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.

  • Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.

  • Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.

  • Uses collaboration skills to work as a team member.

  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.

  • Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.

  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.

Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
