In this fast-paced, high energy environment where community engagement is essential, how do we ensure all of our company's social responsibility is maintained and positively promoted? As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will provide support in all aspects and functions of the Public Relations (PR) department and participate in a multi-disciplinary PR Team to communicate, coordinate and integrate internal and external communications. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local community, cultural, civic, and nonprofit organizations to strengthen Potawatomi Casino Hotel's community presence and positive reputation.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of community engagement, cultural awareness, and sustainability-related initiatives.
  • Review, track, fulfill, and maintain documentation for all in-kind support requests (e.g., sponsorships, donations, raffles, auctions, promotional items, corporate tables), in accordance with internal controls.
  • Help coordinate logistics and deliverables related to approved community sponsorships and assist in identifying opportunities that align with departmental priorities.
  • Coordinate logistics, materials, and on-site support for community engagement events and department-sponsored activities.
  • Represent Potawatomi Casino Hotel and the Public Relations department at internal and external community events, as appropriate for the role.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to donations, sponsorships, budgets, subscriptions, inventory, and program tracking.
  • Update and manage community partner contact information and related databases to ensure accurate and accessible records.
  • Assist in the execution of external communications and public relations initiatives related to community engagement and property promotion, including writing and editing community-focused stories, articles, and materials for internal and external channels such as Inside Bet.
  • Assemble, compile, and distribute community engagement materials, brochures, and informational resources for department and organizational needs.
  • Maintain, organize, and distribute community engagement inventory items; research and order new items as budgeted and approved.
  • Act as a liaison with internal departments such as Accounting, Legal, and Purchasing, and provide general information to staff and partners as needed.
  • Attend meetings as needed, prepare agendas, take meeting notes, and summarize discussions, decisions, and action items.
  • Ensure full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Support additional projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Community Engagement Manager or Corporate Sponsorships & Partnerships Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate's degree in Communications, Public Relations or other related degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years' work experience as a coordinator or assistant for an agency, corporate or non-profit group or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Accountable, to a high degree, for the thoroughness and accuracy of departmental records and reports.
  • Office skills, ability to use standard office equipment and computer proficiency with the internet, and Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to define situations, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to promptly respond to common inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with stress.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, internal controls, check requests and expense reports.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to maintain organization, meet deadlines, possesses integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member is occasionally required to stand and walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The team member may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to twenty five (25) pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

The noise level is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases and is not smoke free.
