My AmeriCorps - Home Page Community Engagement Coordinator
Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and/or safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and/or safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties : The Community Engagement Coordinator will expand and enhance capacity of existing public health programs and services through partnership development, community outreach, and volunteer management at Milestone Decisions, a nonprofit that provides 24-hour care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Position duties include: researching local events and creating a recreation calendar; providing volunteer management including tracking monthly internship and volunteer check-ins and hours volunteered, specific activities volunteered for; conducting volunteer orientation; ensuring surveys and exit interviews are offered to interns/volunteers; updating and organizing the "Community Network Manual"; facilitating consistent communication with current and potential partners; finding ways to improve Milestone''s community engagement efforts to help build and maintain strong community partnerships; helping organize and facilitate group outings, events and activities.
