Community Engagement Manager

Teach Coalition is dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to a quality Jewish education. Operating across multiple states, Teach advocates for equitable government funding and resources for yeshivas and Jewish day schools, helping make Jewish education more accessible and sustainable for families and schools.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the U.S., founded in 1898. The OU supports a vast network of synagogues, youth programs, advocacy efforts, services for individuals with disabilities, and international initiatives. It also operates the leading kosher certification service, recognized globally by the  symbol on numerous kosher food products.

Position Summary:
Teach NJ seeks a Community Engagement Manager to drive community engagement, grassroots organizing, school relationship-building, and donor identification and cultivation across New Jersey. This role is responsible for growing and activating a strong network of parents, school leaders, rabbis, lay leaders, and communal stakeholders in support of Teach’s advocacy mission and donor expansion efforts.

As a primary community ambassador, the Manager will expand Teach NJ’s local presence, deepen relationships with existing supporters and member schools, recruit new partners, and strengthen community participation in policy and advocacy initiatives. This position requires a relationship-driven professional who excels at organizing community members, building meaningful donor connections, and representing Teach in public and communal settings.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute statewide plans for community engagement, grassroots mobilization, and donor cultivation.
• Build and maintain warm, trusted relationships with parents, school leaders, educators, rabbis, lay leaders, and local stakeholders across New Jersey.
• Identify donor opportunities and new prospects, conducting individual outreach and direct one-on-one solicitations to expand Teach NJ’s active donor network.
• Support organizational engagement and growth targets through relationship-driven outreach, community connection, and donor stewardship.
• Grow and sustain Teach NJ’s grassroots movement by activating supporters around advocacy campaigns, action alerts, voting initiatives, and rapid-response efforts.
• Recruit, train, and empowerlay leaders and volunteers to take on active advocacy and community ambassador roles in their local networks.
• Planand execute key community events, including state advocacy days, parlor meetings, community briefings, school visits, and grassroots gatherings.
• Cultivate strong relationships with existing member schools and assist in bringing new schools into the Teach NJ network.
• Deliver regular multi-channel communications and updates that inspire community involvement in policy, advocacy, and educational access initiatives.
• Represent Teach NJ at community events, forums, and meetings as an approachable, energetic ambassador for the mission.
• Track community engagement, donor touchpoints, volunteer participation, and outreach metrics to ensure steady movement growth and accountability.
   

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in any of the following areas: donor relations, fundraising, community engagement, grassroots organizing, sales, client management, or a related field.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect authentically with a wide range of community stakeholders, from parents and educators to rabbis and donors.
• Demonstrated comfort with individual outreach and direct solicitation, with the confidence to conduct one-on-one donor meetings and present funding requests.
• Proven ability to inspire action, cultivate community support, and move people from initial interest to active engagement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver multi-channel messaging that drives involvement.
• Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of managing multiple priorities, community events, and outreach schedules in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to pivot quickly and respond effectively to changing circumstances and organizational needs.
• Experience working within the Jewish community, nonprofit sector, advocacy space, or educational environment preferred.
• Familiarity with New Jersey’s Jewish community and Jewish day school landscape strongly preferred
• Willingness to travel throughout New Jersey and work occasional evenings and weekends as dictated by community events.

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $75,000- $90,000, commensurate with experience.
