he mission of the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC) is to support, strengthen, and advocate for the uniqueness of Wisconsin's free and charitable service providers, the individuals they serve, and the communities with whom they partner. The location for this project is The Beacon in Madison, WI-a Day Resource Center serving approximately 300 individuals experiencing homelessness each day by providing essential services such as showers, laundry, meals, mail access, and connections to housing, healthcare, employment, and social services. Operating year-round, The Beacon relies on coordinated systems, strong partnerships, and effective service delivery processes to maintain a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment for guests. As demand for services continues to grow, there is a need to strengthen internal systems related to guest intake, data tracking, volunteer coordination, and service navigation to improve efficiency, consistency, and overall impact. Member Duties : AmeriCorps members will serve as Guest Services Specialists at The Beacon, supporting daily operations and enhancing the guest experience for individuals experiencing homelessness. Members will welcome guests, manage check-in and intake processes, and ensure accurate documentation of services in HMIS. They will provide orientation to services, respond to guest needs and inquiries, and help maintain a safe, respectful, and organized environment. Members will observe guest well-being, offer support, and respond appropriately to emerging situations. They will also assist with coordinating access to partner services (housing, healthcare, employment), support volunteer engagement, and contribute to consistent service delivery. Through these activities, members will improve access to essential resources and strengthen service navigation for Beacon guests.
