Mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Purpose: We are seeking a fun and effective communicator to share the Girl Scout experience with more girls and volunteers. The Community Event Lead will attend sign-up events (in-person) and share the Girl Scout message with girls and adults across a designated territory. They will assist the Community Engagement Manager with meeting and exceeding new membership goals. The position will connect with local communities and broaden Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa’s reach to families across Iowa! Start Date: No earlier than July 15, 2026 A day in the life… (Essential functions) - The primary focus for the Community Event Lead is to increase membership of girl and adult volunteers in a designated territory by hosting in-person Girl Scout sign-up events.
- Community Event Leads should expect to host 4-5 events per week, mainly in the evenings and on weekends.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed including manually processing memberships using CRM system.
- Work to ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The fine print… (Qualifications) - Outgoing and motivated.
- Effective communicator, customer service skills and strong computer skills.
- Previous experience in recruitment, sales, account management or related focus is preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve and stay highly organized.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present information to a variety of audiences.
- Experience with Girl Scouts preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.

- Flexibility is key. You will primarily work in the afternoon and evenings. Some weekends may be required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Employee provided cell phone is required.
- Available to start on or before July 1, 2025.
Your Surroundings - Primarily travel in a designated territory of Iowa to events and sign-up nights in varying size communities.
- When not traveling to events, you will work from climate-controlled office conditions or a home office.
- Position may require outdoor work where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered.
- During different job duties the noise inside or outside can become very loud.
Additional details - Temporary position could last between 8 to 12 weeks.
- Hours each week could vary from 10 to 20 hours, with early evening/evening hours required.
