A.C.T.I.O.N. is a proposed community-wide overdose prevention initiative that will expand access to FDA-approved opioid overdose reversal medications (OORMs), community training, and treatment referral pathways across the twelve counties of Alabama's 4th Congressional District (Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Winston, Cullman, Marshall, DeKalb, and Blount). This position is contingent upon receipt of federal SAMHSA grant funding.

    Position Summary

The Community Health Worker (CHW) for Cluster 1 is responsible for opioid overdose reversal medication (OORM) distribution, overdose-recognition and response training, and referral follow-up within Marion, Lamar, and Fayette Counties, working in close partnership with the cluster's designated community partner organization. This locally embedded, field-based role requires strong ties to the assigned counties.

    Key Responsibilities

? Distribute FDA-approved OORMs (naloxone and nalmefene) to bystanders, community sectors, and rural first responders within Marion, Lamar, and Fayette Counties.

? Deliver overdose-recognition, response, and OORM-administration training to both traditional partners (healthcare providers, pharmacies, EMS, school systems) and non-traditional community sectors (e.g., gas station attendants, motel staff, retail employees, postal workers).

? Train local Training-of-Trainers cohorts to extend the training curriculum further into the community.

? Support referral and linkage follow-up for individuals identified through prevention or overdose response activities, in coordination with the Program Coordinator/Data Lead.

? Maintain local relationships with the cluster's designated community partner, healthcare providers, pharmacies, faith-based organizations, and schools.

? Complete required data collection instruments accurately and submit them to the Program Coordinator/Data Lead on the required schedule.

? Participate in the Local Community Prevention Collaborative and community-facing outreach and distribution events.

    Minimum Qualifications

? Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or a related field

? Local, rural-based residency or strong ties to Marion, Lamar, and Fayette Counties, with community trust and lived familiarity with the area.

? Community health worker certification or equivalent lived or professional experience preferred.

? Strong local community relationships and the trust of area residents.

? Ability to complete Aletheia House's overdose-recognition and naloxone-administration training during onboarding (provided).

? Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the assigned counties for distribution and training visits.

? Comfortable with basic data entry and reporting tools.
