Temple University''s Center for Community Partnerships is searching for a Community Health Worker!

Salary Range: $28,280 - $40,000

A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

Position Summary

The Community Health Worker under the PHA CARES program will provide CHW services primarily to original and new residents in Bartram Village, a Philadelphia Housing Authority development. The CHW will conduct intake and assessments, plan health education workshops virtually or in-person at least monthly, may be asked to do home visits and make phone contact, maintain data, and contribute to quarterly reports on outcomes. Interaction between the CHW and PHA residents is designed to promote positive behavior change, regular health monitoring, and stress the importance of addressing health issues for themselves and other family members. This Position is Grant Funded.

Job Details

  • This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprinting. Cash Handling and Personally Identifiable information background check.
  • Offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Candidate must be a resident of Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA).

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Completion of a minimum of 75 hours of Community Health Worker Core Training.
  • General Experience in a medical or health-related field and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Resident of PHA Bartram Village location.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer-related skills using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and Google applications.
  • Excellent customer service Skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Keep documentation that aligns with services provided.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
