Community Life (CL) is TCBs place-based model that uses stable housing as a platform for connecting families, seniors, and households with disabilities to community resources and opportunities. We engage residents in creating programs and building strategic partnerships with local stakeholders to create pathways to opportunities in early education, economic mobility, youth development, voting registration, health, and resident leadership. Community Lifes goal is to create equitable access to community support, resources, and opportunities for all residents so that everyone can thrive.

Position Description:

The Community Builders, Inc. seeks a highly motivated candidate with a passion for direct services to coordinate community engagement opportunities for the site at Creighton Renaissance in Richmond, VA. Under the direct supervision of the Community Life District Manager, the Community Life Services Coordinator will be responsible for operationalizing Creighton Renaissance as well as providing/supporting quality programming across the site.

Housing stabilization is the primary area of focus that will be delivered through referrals to quality, local partners, on-site programing and individual coaching. The goal is to have families stable in their housing and to connect them to local opportunities in the areas of education, workforce development, financial education, asset building and health. In addition, community engagement and community building activities will be essential in order to create a sense of community and initiate a gateway to other support services. Services provided should be intentional, meaningful, and align with the community success plan.

Essential Functions:

Develop and implement the Community Success Plan (CSP), an annual work plan outlining strategies and activities that firm into CL Strategic Goals Coordinate activities: assess and report on progress regularly

Supervise interns and volunteers, ensuring accountability of site team for carrying out the programs and activities included in the sites CSP

Coordinate the implementation of the TCB Housing Stabilization Standard of Practice, which includes communicating with Property Management regarding work orders issues, rent, etc.

Achieve a goal of engaging at least 60% of households with rental arrears between 060 days through direct contact or one-on-one coaching

Oversee the collection of the annual Community Life Questionnaire (CLQ) and meet collection goals for your community.

Coordinate activities to ensure Seniors are able to age in place with dignity and families move toward economic mobility

Manage programming including design, partnership development, implementation and assessment of progress

Develop strategic partnerships with local service providers to bring on-site programs to Creighton Renaissance residents as well as provide referrals to off-site programs and services in the following CL outcome areas: youth mentoring and job programs, afterschool, early education, career pathway, financial, and housing stabilization, activities of daily living, senior isolation etc.

Attend local meetings with community stakeholders, and other local organization that are focusing on community engagement, youth development and safety and security within the community

Conduct welcome orientations for new residents at least quarterly

Manage administrative tasks required for securing and executing contracts or Memorandum of Agreements with providers and partners to carry out on-site programming

Attend trainings around trauma informed care, youth mentorship, youth development, budgeting, restorative justice, gang violence, mental health first aide, youth diversion programs, motivational interviewing

Keep property management team and Senior Manager appraised of issues affecting residents

Document and maintain accurate and up to date records in CL Connect weekly

CLSC is responsible for ensuring that all outcomes associated with community-level grant opportunities are successfully achieved

Provide compassionate support to residents by actively listening, offering emotional encouragement, and connecting individuals to appropriate mental health resources and services as needed

Monitor budget and activities for program operations, including meeting reporting requirements for all grant funded activities and managing progress towards fulfilling grant deliverables

Work Schedule:

The CLSC is an onsite, full-time position. Responsibilities may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule or evening/weekend hours.

Requirements:

Capable of building and maintaining partnerships with community-based organizations based on the needs of the residents.

Ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, and beliefs that differ across cultures and to respond appropriately to these differences with residents and in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services.

Ability to collect, track and understand data to assess programs and partnerships.

Knowledge of Federal, State and Local Policies affecting housing and/or experience in property management preferred.

Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook. Knowledge of Yardi preferred.

Education & Experience:

Bachelors Degree required in social work, human services, mental health, or a related field
