Job Summary
Performs administrative functions to support smooth and efficient practice operations under general supervision. Perform tasks that are related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, and check-out duties. Actual job duties may vary by department. Essential Functions: - Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office. - Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records. - Greet and assist patients. - Answer telephones, assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments. - File materials in patient folders and print appointment schedules. - Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical records/EPIC. - Call for patient medical records and laboratory test results. - Open and distribute unit mail or faxes. - Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc. as directed. - May be required to accept co-payments. - Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results. - Acts as an EPIC "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems (EPIC training is provided). - Provide assistance and training to others in these areas. - May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.Qualifications

WORKING CONDITIONS: Hospital based ambulatory practice. Normal patient environments where there are some exposures to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, needle, and blood products. HOSPITAL WIDE
RESPONSIBILITIES: Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by BWH/Partners; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BWH and Partners policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BWH and/or Partners, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate hospital staff.
